4 ears to hear you better
| This thread ![]() ![]() ANYWAY I am only here to second and third opinions on account of being late. Excess makes lovely skins, they have both men and boy skins on the male side, and I've found that I like the men skins a bit more than the boy skins, which were the only ones I've initially checked out. Dendou is nice, but I think they look more definitely male than androgynous. And yes the Eloh templates are good for when you want to make your own androgynous skin, though I think the first one is better for that than Pleiades. |

| I have a Trap skin. this is one of the neko ones. the skin tones are a little odd though. There are (or were?) also some by Illuminati but the store seems to have disappeared. edit; no they changed their name and it's now [Gauze].

| Weirdo in a Weird Land ![]() ![]() | I'll third eXceSs. What I'm wearing in my avatar picture, but with the makeup options and so on it can be made (even more) androgynous.

| Weirdo in a Weird Land ![]() ![]() | It was recently said somewhere or other that there may be an issue with Subaru's skins, mainly that some or all of them are rips from Sims skins made by Enayla/Linda Bergkvist. Can't say for sure, but I will say that the seaming I found on some of the demos I tried was suggestive that they were sloppily ported over from somewhere... |

| Weirdo in a Weird Land ![]() ![]() | Ah, here was the first I've heard of it, and it struck me as compelling. That level of seaming just isn't natural from an experienced skin maker (and someone's who's got eight different skin lines ought to be pretty experienced if they were creating their own work from scratch), IMO. I find the abs on Edward rather similar to some of the Pixie skins, too, but that's just going off the small pics on the Mod the Sims site. A commentator noted similarities to other Sims skins among some of the other skins from that store, as well. |

| Senior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | I took a closer look at the skin vs the pixie screenshots you mentioned. I agree the screenshot is small, but the shading on key areas like the bottom of the sternum, ribcage area and ab area don't match up and are less flat than what is presented on the sims skins. The pecs are not as tight as the pixie skin. Areas like the eyebrows, lips, under the nose and nose tip also don't match up. If the skin is a rip, i don't think the textures themselves are coming from the Pixie skins. However, the skins have similar tones in that the underlying shading is greenish, which Enayla uses often in her illustrations (typically a ruby red, a deep jadish green, or a dark blue). I do find the skin overall to be rather blurry and there are a few key areas where it's highly probable that the skin maker did not have a properly calibrated screen. Of course, it's also highly probable that the source texture was low rez... or both. I agree there are a lot of questionable areas - I initially bought the skin on a lark one late night after someone mentioned Gackt and I wanted to see if I could recreate the look in-world. I never intended to have said av walk around with much less than shorts and a tshirt, so things like the butt-cheeks and over-the shoulder seams didn't present themselves as huge issues at the time. It was quite literally something done on a whim over an hour or two, then put away. At this point, even if the skin *is* legit, I'm rather disappointed i didn't pay closer attention to the that night :/ Anyhow, thanks for bringing the subject up. Perhaps someone else can shed further light on the matter. Last edited by Aki Shichiroji; 07-03-2009 at 10:24 PM. |
