off the top of my head, nyte n day has asian skins (which i use) and also at geisha dreams. i think the important thing in looking for an asian skin is the shading, we're a bit more sallow/yellow than rosy pink or brown. and also like what Lo said, the shape is important too... i've always made my own though and i think it's not too difficult to achieve the right shape on your own if you know what you're after.

not all asians are devoid of the creased eyelids. my mom, bro and me have them... although sometimes i only get them on one eye which can be annoying

Redgrave also makes a "pale" sakura that maybe good, but Im one of those bad Japanese kids who likes to go to the beach with my friends and tan ...which drove my grandmother nuts as she kept telling me I'm going to look like a farmer if I don't cover up!

She was one of those old ladies who never went out into the sun without a parasol....she may have had a point though, she lived to just under 90 and never had a wrinkle on her face.....

I would, except I can't find the designer in Search!

In speaking with a couple of very helpful people I ran into last night while skin shopping, it seems the designer, Diana08 Xue, has "left the game." There was no indication as to how long that's been so, or for that matter, who continues to pay the rent on the three stores that are definitely still occupied in-world.

Ultimately, we found a store with working vendors in Chromex and I was able to pick up a shape and skin.

I've still got a giant folder full of skins to go through and some fiddling with the shape to do before I post some pics.

I too have been having an issue finding an Asian skin that I liked. Siyu recommended Fleur and while I admit the skins are really nice, they are just not dark enough.

Wow where were all these suggestions when I was looking for a new skin a few months back? I ended up settling on Ryker Beck's "Eden" skin in the Ginger tone, now sadly discontinued. The nose shading bothers me because it is too strong somehow, but a lot of the "Asian" skins I've tried on had bad tones (too pink) or just looked awful on my shape. I'm willing to tweak my shape a bit and may do after this thread, lol, but not change my face entirely.

Sin Skins/Ton Visage/Sakura/Bisque on the right


The Bisque tone is one of the very best tone's I've seen, but the Ginger tone was mostly what sold me in that it has none of that rosy/pinkish tint to it that skin makers seem to love so much.



lots of makeups of my current skin (again, discontinued-bleh). As you can see my shape tends to be a bit more "anime" than some but I tried to get something between human & cartoon. Any tips are appreciated, as it seems a lot of you are Asian in RL and I am just playing Asian in SL.

She looks mixed, like 1/2 Asian, 1/2 White or even 1/4 Asian 3/4 White. I really think it would be all about the shape. making the head and face longer. I'm not really sure about the hose, because you can change the nose depth but you cant change its.. longness very well.

Here we go... I've been chipping at this and let's see how the results stand up.

The look strikes me as a little more stylised than hyper-realistic, but maybe it still works.

I can't take complete credit for the shape. I grabbed one from DrLife as a starting point and then started tweaking it. I'm not sure how successful I've been.

I'm not entirely satisfied with the mouth area and, depending on the lighting and the skin, the lines around the mouth can be pretty stark where they meet the nose. The only way I know of to get rid of that is to turn the nose up, but I don't want that upturned nose look.

Next up are skins. Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. I felt like I raided every skin maker looking for these. I wasn't able to grab the Fleur Shojo skins; they're teleporter wasn't working.

DrLife SilkGirl Lan - This is the skin that pairs up with the shape that I used as my launching point. I like it for its delicate and arty tones, but it doesn't juxtapose with commonly available and realistic clothing textures as well as more realistic skins.


Redgrave Sakura Tan and Pale - This is my front-runner. It bears a lot of great detail, though it also appears a little glammed up, even with the Nude makeup option.


Redgrave Hana Pale - I have this here for comparison and also because it seems to be such a popular skin. However, I'm not particularly fond of the lips, so if I went with a Redgrave, it'd be the Sakura.


Gala Curio Petal Sunkissed and Exodi (Genesis) Eden Gen2 Nutmeg - There are both very pretty skins and I like them for their body detail, but I suspect they don't really complement the "Asian" aspect of the shape and make her look more mixed.

Thoughts? I'm agnostic about much of this and open to suggestions.

I don't have thoughts on the skins yet, but after a quick look re: the shape:

1. Give your face a tiny bit more of the jowls OR have the head shape less forehead heavy -- the chin is too pointy.

2. Move your mouth a smidge up towards your nose.

One thing that might help as well would be to find a model whose shape you really like and would like to emulate, and then try and follow that as closely as possible.

Have to agree about the shape. jaw is to pointy to be asian where faces tend to be rounder.

Upper bridge of the nose could be reduced too... on my shape I keep it between 15-20 and widen the bridge some. overall nose size I tend to keep under 20 as well.

asian noses tend to be flatter and wider then european.

and lips should be centred between nose and chin.

I'll argue for the shape making a big difference, more than you'd think. My alt has an Asian skin from Rosy Moon, and with a non-Asian shape, it doesn't really look Asian at all.

I find the freckles on the Redgrave skins rather odd and out-of-place for an Asian skin. I've never seen an Asian person with freckles like that, and my first thought if I saw a person like that was that they were half European.

another thing is people tend to choose skins to dark when they try and make an asian.

While south-east asians can be very dark many northern asians (noteable Korean / Northern Chinese / Japanese) can have very light skin tones and can be just as pale / pink as a european from a Nordic country.

In fact for most asian countries Pale = Beautiful, Healthy and Wealthy ... people with dark tanned skins are considered peasants or farmers who work in the fields.
