Have you tried 1-800 Betties ? - She does do a small menswear range - Hats and Shoes as well as Suits

Thanks, but I did try Betties. No double-breasted suits and the single-breasted weren't any different than more contemporary styles.

I picked up a spiffy vest outfit at comme il faut, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for.

Damn, last time I was in SL (a year ago), I actually found a suit like that after much searching and looking. Chest pocket handkerchief and striped tie just about right. If I only could recall where I got it...

Moreover, it was presented as a modern look, something gay about the store even, but with the right hat it actually looked pure period.

Otherwise, I must say the brown suit from Bettie's fits the bill. I disagree it looks contemporary.
Even though it is not double breasted, I know. Okay, you already tried that...

Biggest problem for me though was not staying bald, and then I do not mean greaser hair, but rather something like this:

...or this:

...or even this:

Doesn't need to be exactly 50's in my book, yet strangely, according to SL, men did not grow hair prior to the 1990's. In other words, since I preferred my avatar pretty big (not muscle big), I had no choice but a recourse to another Kojac lookalike.

Here's the style I'm aiming for, so maybe not so different from what 1-800-Betties had to offer. I'll drop by again sometime this week and look closer.

I don't know if this will exactly suit your needs but Hell Bop Clothing has 50s clothing for men and women. It's more rockabilly inspired but she has rolled up jeans, bowling shirts.

There's a store in Retrology.
