I can't believe how much fun I had with this scroll. Doing the wavy lines in the border had me worked up into a nervous knot. It's not even but I am actually surprised at how it came out.

I was looking at other examples of this method and theirs were almost perfect. Mine need some work but it didn't come out as badly as I thought it was!

Paint used:

Savoir Faire Gouache Primary Blue, Primary Red, Bright White & Ivory Black along with Winsor and Newton Gouache Gold

I'm risking my life for soda pop again

There was a thread I can't find now about a guy who owns a grocery store that specializes in hard to find, craft sodas. His energy was contagious, and I decided to get back into home brewing.

I've made beer in the past and really enjoyed the process. I got pretty good beer as well, but I'm really not drinking these days, so it isn't worth the effort. I tried wine as well, and got the most godawful swill imaginable, although, it was certainly alcoholic. It was like purple Everclear with a hint of grape.

Soda pop, though, is fun to make, and I have a well-documented tendency to drink too much pop, so this should work out well, right?

The last time I tried it, I had some minor issues with my pantry blowing up. This time, I bottled a gallon of cola, just to fiddle with the recipe, and I used 2-liter plastic bottles, so I can tell how carbonated it is by squeezing the bottle. When the bottle gets hard, I'll stick it in the fridge to stop the carbonation process. If I made larger batches, I might go with bail top, Grolsch style bottles. I could pasteurize them as well, but I worry about heating them too much.

At any rate, I have a couple 2 liter bottles carbonating right now. If anything interesting happens, my doctors will be the first to know, but you all will be second.

My goal is to eventually come up with some really unique and interesting flavors and to have a lot of fun with my kids making something we can all enjoy. Creating hand grenades is not on the list of priorities this time.
