Hope this is the correct place to ask this - wasn't sure whether to post it here in the New Users section or in the General SL Discussion section.

What I want to know is, are all dresses in SL of the flexi type? It's not that I don't like them - I do - but they are not very appropriate for Victorian or Medieval settings.

Are there dresses or gowns which don't flare upwards as one walks?

I won a PSP Go at work yesterday (love it so far! Never has a PSP before and the interface rocks) I have been playing the demo for Little Big (theres apparently a problem with Sony getting the full game uploaded to the Network for the Go's so only the demo is available). Would you think it's worth it to buy when it comes out? I obviously can't get too far into it with a demo but it's hella fun so far....

and you thought skynet was all evil!

What is the going rate for an animator?
I've been trying to make some boxing/fighting/wrestling styled animations but failing harder than a Austrian sprint relay team.

They'll be short animations but will involve two people reacting. Not poseball either (do they call them gestures when they're not in a poseball?)

I will pay (in L$) and know its not a case of just a few thousands L$. I just need to get some idea of how much people charge.

With roughly 60% of Residents based outside of the United States, localizing the Second Life experience is an important area of focus for us, so we�re pleased to share two pieces of good news on that front.

On Wednesday, we launched SecondLife.com in three additional languages: Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian. We now have websites localized in English, German, French, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese, and are looking forward to continuing to grow this list.

Additionally, as you may have seen, we�ve recently signed an agreement with Gisland (actually, you may have seen it called Dragonfish or 888 - 888 Holdings is the public limited company, Dragonfish is the brand name of 888�s B2B Division, and Gisland is the operating company). This is a company with a great deal of experience in providing secure payment processing, andthis relationship will enable us to begin accepting payments from Residents outside the US in a broader range of currencies than we currently do.

We're working together with Gisland on a cashier interface and other tools that will give Residents more than 20 payment options and make it easier for Residents to pay in a wider range of native currencies than they can now. Gisland will also help us implement appropriate anti-fraud measures as we expand these payment options, and will help us to provide payment-related support in seven languages. We�re not yet ready to launch these new services, but more payment options are coming, and we think it will make things easier for Second Life Residents outside the US. More to come, and we�ll keep you posted.

First confirmed cases of infectious Tamiflu resitant H1N1

5 cases of an infectious Tamiflu resistant version of H1N1 have been detected in a Welsh Hospital. Resistant mutations have been detected before but until now none have been confirmed to show person to person infection. 3 patients in the hospital are believed to have caught the H1N1 variant from two others . The good news is that this new variant doesn't seem to be any more severe than the swine flu virus that has been circulating since April

9th Circuit: DOMA Unconstitutional?

Judge orders compensation for gay couple who were denied healthcare, other benefits -- latimes.com

Yesterday, the 9th circuit ruled that a same-sex spouse of a federal employee be reimbursed the cost of benefits in the absence of coverage, based on DOMA.

The article states:

I'm not a lawyer (Thank Goodness! My head would explode!) but does this mean what I think it means? The 9th circuit is taking a States Rights stance, and saying that a legally married couple cannot be denied federal benefits? The denial of benefits portion of DOMA is unconstitutional? It looks pretty strongly worded.
