Needle and Thread - A Seamstress' Friend

Got some work done on this while I was in my meeting tonight.

Dark maroon velvet (used to be my drapes) with some patterned material in as the inset. There are no seams as both the sides and the back will have grommets so that it can be adjusted to fit just about anyone in the plus size range.

I didn't take a pic of what I did tonight but I got a small gold rope and am laying it on the seams between the velvet and the printed material, basically couching it into the seams. Once that is finished, I will seam up the arms and toss in the grommets.

Jeez, I love doing stuff like this.

You are a slut, but only in the best possible way, and any man lucky enough to see that side of you should count his blessings.

I have 4 sewing projects in front of me that I -have- to have done by Halloween weekend.

The first three are kinda easy, they are from the same pattern.

The 4th is a cute little I Dream Of Jeannie outfit for Allison, Karra's 7 year old. I can't start on it this weekend which means I have to start on it no later then the weekend of the 4th. That gives me 3 weeks.

Yay procrastination!

One day I have promised myself to take up sewing. It's so much more fun and creative these days than what my mom and grandma used to make. When I was a kid, my mom used to sew dresses for me and I hated the fuck out of that. But I wore them anyway because she made them with lurve.

Awesome Verti! Can't wait to see the finished piccy.

Halloween weekend there will be the Tournament of the Oasis of the Crimson Sands, not far from the Holy City of Jerusalem, between two great kings; Saladin, beloved of his people, and King Richard the Lion-Hearted, both great warriors of their respective lands.

Shimmering silks of azure blue, emerald, ruby and gold, along with sandalwood incense, wafted on the gentle breeze amongst the shaded pavilions of strange and unfamiliar shapes.

Ladies, both dusky and fair, dressed in brilliant colors and rich fabrics encrusted with jewels and gold were in attendance.

------------------------------------

This is an SCA event and it promises to be a grand affair. For that, I have made the following dress for Karra (in emerald green linen) and myself (in a bright purple linen), both of us in sparking white linen head wraps.

Dnate will be siding with the Franks, it should make for an interesting event!

I'll post pics of the weekend (and garb) hopefully after the event!

Just finished getting an 18 foot table runner put together.

The fabric is absolutely gorgeous and the trim really makes it look awesome. Once I get the top stitching done, I will take pics. It is going to be a gift for our Yule event in December. Excited!

On the other list of Things to Do, we finally managed to get a hold of all the wood we needed to make a bed specifically for camping. We made the headboard, rails and footboard today. Next weekend we install the cleating that will hold the decking and then stain the whole thing. Woot!

Talk about a productive day! My body aches like hell but I'll deal.

Yay productivity!

My list of Things To Do never seems to get any shorter. I should do something about that soon. But 2 presents are being shipped this week so that's a start!

Pics of the table runner! 18 feet from end to end! I am so proud of how it turned out and I am absolutely fanatic about it being done! It's reversible so either side can be used and let me tell you, trying to deal with 8 layers of tapestry grade fabric is a PITA!!!

It is going to be a gift to the Baron and Baroness of our local chapter. He made an off hand comment about how he wished they had more luxurious looking table dressings.

You don't say such things within ear shot of a rampant seamstress!

I only have 2 more to go before I can call the whole table runner/table clothe situation resolved.

And the first of 3 sets of small tableclothes, these are meant to go over the large table clothe, usually set on the diagonal so a point hangs off the table.
