Painters of all mediums!

I like to paint. Paper, walls, miniatures, basically anything that stays still while I have a paintbrush in my hand. =D It's not my best skill but I still love to do it.

My first attempt at doing a scroll for an award. I had to have someone finish it for me since I had to leave but I got most of the color down and re-inking it. The dark spots on the green is where the paint is still wet.

This one is for Joshua, who probably paints better then I do if he is huge into Warhammer but here is one of my minis that I spent some time on.

Warhammer - Sisters of Battle - Sister Superior with bolter and sword.

About 10 hours of painting and she's not done. Still need to paint and flock base.

One of these days.

Woooow I loooove the dragon Of course, I'm biased by a love of dragons, but that doesn't make it less awesome. I used to paint sculptures too! But that was when I was younger so I wasn't really that good at it ^^; Still have some of them but I didn't take any pictures of them, coincidentally, they're all plaster dragons or clay fairies, hahahaa.

The detail work on that Warhammer figurine is really impressive, especially on those little details like the buckle on his leg and the little skull

I try to pick out as much detail as I can on something with paint and then later go back and ink wash it, that REALLY makes it stand out. I will have to take some pics of the others that I have completely finished but they are all at a friend's house ATM.

I had a dragon sculpture that I painted. I did a really rock star job on it, if I do say so myself and then, being the bumbling idiot that I am, when I picked it up to take it out on the porch to take a pic of it in natural light, I dropped it.

I might have the head of it around here someplace, I will have to look for it. (Hi, I am a recovering pack rat.)

Oh my gosh that's terrible.... why does it always have to be right when you finish it? I spent two and a half weeks painstakingly painting a foot and a half tall fairy statue to give my mother on mother's day, and when I turned to wrap a bow around it, knocked it onto a tile floor AAAAAH CLUMSINESS YOU ARE CRUEL!!!

I've dabbled a bit into acrylics. I'm in the process of making some room in the kitchen (small flat) so I can start again.

The only painting I've done lately is on walls

I do miss the days in primary school when we had art class... wonder why they take those things away when you get older.

I love oil pastels and chalks - though admittedly I have not used them in a long time, at least the real ones. In high school I became hooked on a program that used to be called Fractal Design Painter, and is now called simply Painter. It is the most amazing program I have ever used, and I use it all the time still to paint. I even taught the program for a semester at an art school to art students (long story).

My artwork is very personal and rather abstract, but here is a sample of something I did in Painter. My favorite thing about it, aside from having access to every type of canvas, brush and art medium ever (or never) invented, you can do limitless things with them and change the way things behave to create incredible art.

This is called Broken - it was done with oil pastels, a water brush, and a special effects brush.

4.3 of my Real life artwork that were in my SL gallery.

RL Seasonal artwork in my closed SL seasonal gallery.

One of my RL artworks outside of SL.

Oops, only the top has paintings. The rest are stained glass, or the like.

Oh, and neat art, Cristiano. Just need to add that I'm amazed at what people do on the computer, as I have no abilities there.

I adore using pastel also (chalk and oil) Like to experiment with lots of mixed medium as well.

This one started off as a pencil drawing of my partner. It kind of failed to resemble him as much as it might so I went off on a tangent and colour washed it. Still did not look to great so scanned it into the pc and applied some light filters and now I think it works.

This one is a mixed chalk and oil pastel ....its a poor pic but all I have as I am getting ready to move so everything is packed in boxes :/

Thank you - I love your stuff too

That is the thing about Painter, though - it is geared toward RL artists, not computer graphic designers. Knowledge of brushes and paints and canvases is critical to getting the most from the program.

When I taught a semester of Painter to art students at an art school, none of them had backgrounds in computer art - they were all traditional art students. Once they learned the program, it was their natural art talent that was shining through, not mad Photoshop skillz. I still have a lot of their homework and final projects hanging in my condo It was daunting to be around such talented artists - some were absolutely incredible. It was also weird because I was like four years older than they were and they were calling me Mr. Diaz and asking to go to the bathroom.

Reminds me of one of my first crafts projects, in first grade.

We had been told to bring a blown lightbulb to school, and a shoe box. So then we made a hole in the shoebox, that would fit the lightswitch up to its base.

So, there's the shoebox with the lightbulb sticking up. Then we painted faces on them, glued on something for hair (probably yarn), and made little hats.

I was SOOOOOO proud of mine! I remember it was raining that day, as I walked home, very carefully carrying my light bulb lady. Then I slipped, dropped the box, and the bulb shattered into a hundred pieces.

MY MOTHER HADN'T SEEN IT!

I was totally broken-hearted. I described it to her, and she did her best to appreciate it without it, you know, actually BEING there, but it took me weeks to get over it.

Actually, you can see I never did get over it!

LOVE that color. The bedroom in my old house was a royal purple with a lighter purple on the ceiling and room trimmings.

I can't deal with white walls, it drives me insane. =D

On and off yes. I find it a really good way to relax. Not so much in the last twelve months though. Have been off work sick so even if I have the energy to start something I tend to not last very long before I have to leave it be.
I have a canvas that has been washed ready to start and its been sat there for two months..... I sit in front of it and then think...nah go lie on the bed and read teh forums

Now we have a new craft forum though it might give me a bit more impetus to do something. Here's hoping

I love Klimt!

I don't really have a studio space anymore where I can paint with oils. I love oil paint, but the smell is too much inside the house. So I'm thinking of setting up my easle outdoors as soon as it gets warm enough.
