Doesn't this just sum it up most days?

My first cross-stitch piece from subversive cross stitch: mind your fingers . Absolutely loved the idea, had to buy the book and am in the process of making various items for co-workers, both present and past.

I have a few that I will be giving out as x-mas presents as well...though not at the company x-mas party.

Jonathan was born a couple days before Easter (Note to self: get DOB) so I have been working on something to give to his folks.

It's still in progress, I actually finished the second wave of water last night and just need to put the border around it. Then I will be putting his name and DOB under the ducks. I am still uncertain if I want to make it into a pillow or throw it in a frame.

Your thoughts?

OMG!! That site was so funny!!! I haven't attempted a cross stitch since before I had kids, but I think I need to order one of those kits.

Ha ha, I'll have to try some of these subversive ones! Fun stuff!

I like the duckies, too. The colours blend well. As it seems to be a birth present, maybe frame it. A pillow won't last as long.

I finished the cross stitch for Jonathan. The pic washed out the colors but you get the idea.

My 'writing' sucks horribly though.

I took up cross-stitching right after 9/11.

Not sure why. But somehow it was perfect for watching news constantly.

I had never cross-stitched before, though I'd done plenty of embroidery. So I cross-stitched and watched news every night for over a year, at least. I cross-stitched a lighthouse glasses case for my mother-in-law, the lighthouse lover; a picture of a ship and lighthouse for my friends who had bought a new boat (to go IN their boat, which is where they put it); a beach scene for my father and step-mother; and I can't remember what all else.

My favorite, though, was a bow - about a 15-inch bow - with all kinds of Christmas scenes on it (hard to describe) for us that goes on the door at Christmas. (Maybe I can remember to find and scan a pic of it sometime, to put here.)

Then I discovered the Sims Online, and escaped into it, figuring probably the world wasn't going to end yet, as it hadn't for the past year or so; and I haven't cross-stitched anything since.

I like to do it, though.

I just sit here and stitch. If I am in a fairly active conversation, I talk more then I stitch but if I am at an event or something, following gen chat becomes rather difficult, so I may be in IMs with people but I'll be stitching.

It is for a friend who will have her son some time in August.
