Woohoo!

Crafts and Hobbies is now open!

Let's see some hard working stuff! I loved reading everyone's crafty habits in the thread so now I wanna see pics!

As for me, I do a bit of everything. Pretty much anything to do with fabrics/thread (including weaving), I paint, I like to play in mud (pottery) and I like to work with power tools. I'll add photos as I find them!

I only have a picture of one of the dresses I have made recently though I have made several like this recently:

The only real issue with it was I wasn't really paying attention to the pattern when I made it and when I put it on, I had about 2 feet of fabric pooled around my feet cause I am horizontally challenged and that was WITH the petticoat underneath.

The dress is maroon velvet with metallic gold embroidery (I bought it that way, I am not quite THAT insane or have that great of a machine just yet) with maroon satin for the sleeves. A lower portion of the sleeves were done in a french seam. A maroon and gold twist band laid on top of the seam that connected the lower sleeves to the cap sleeves up top. The top portion of the lower sleeves had a casing put in and a length of maroon cording passed through to 'gather' up the sleeves as loose or as tightly as the wearer prefers.

All in all, took me about 2 weeks from pattern lay out to finishing touches.

Since I have my cell phone with me at all times, I just snap a picture with that and then send it to Flickr when I get home.

I am a (long time) member of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.) and make all kinds of clothes for my obsession. From something as simple as a tunic all the way up to full Elizabethans.

And this way, I always have a costume for Halloween too. =D

It's been so long since I actually touched my sewing machine.

I'll have to get to work on some projects and let you know how they come out with pictures

Yay! I am hoping to move into a 4 bedroom house in August so that I can finally have my own craft room.

It's hard having my bedroom also be my crafting center and command center. It'll be nice to have it all spread out.
