Business: Neptune's Kiss - Jewelry & Emotions | Digital SLR camera I'm looking at buying a digital SLR but feel overwhelmed with the options available and don't really know what I should be looking for. Pricing needs to be fairly reasonable too. Anyone have any suggestions?

| Pick your price and then buy a Canon or a Nikon. The bang for the buck is effectively identical. You can look really hard at all the minute details and drive yourself nuts. Fortunately, the marketing folk at those companies have already done the comparisons for you when pricing their products. If you are willing to go back a model you can maybe save $150 (Canon Rebel XTi vs. Canon Rebel XT). I wouldn't go much below $900, it will show up in poor glass or a lousy sensor. |

Business: Park Life Modern Homes and Interior | Your big investment will be in lenses rather than the camera body. If you decide to go with rebel small-format sensor (assuming this, if you want to save money), you can even start with the older Rebel XT and put the money you saved toward lenses. You can upgrade the body later and lenses will still work. The $75 Canon 50mm 1.8 prime is a great place to start, then look at some zoom lenses from Sigma or Tamron. Not sure what the equivalent Nikon models are. |

Business: Neptune's Kiss - Jewelry & Emotions | I guess everyone has their preferences but honestly after looking at those mentioned and a few others besides, once you get the obligatory accessories like memory cards etc I'm thinking the Canon EOS 450D is my way to go, especially price wise. /me wishes she could afford one of those super duper omg loverlies. |

| Wow, I've not been keeping up with my lowish end DSLRs. This will be a fine camera. I took one of my favorite photos with a 2.1MP point and shoot camera, so you really don't need the hottest gear. If you have little photographic background, and sometimes even if you have a little, a "photography for dummies" or some-such can be really, really helpful. |

Business: Neptune's Kiss - Jewelry & Emotions | That is a lovely shot Malachi. Black and white photography has always been my favourite. I find colour can often detract from the subject. Anyway, back to waffling with myself about the expense but I reeeaaaalllly want one....ETA: Well I went ahead and bought one, broke the bank but I'm excited so I think that's a fair exchange lol Last edited by Bellissa; 08-21-2009 at 03:10 AM. |

My Mood: SLShopper Ads: 2 SL Join Date: August 05 | I bought a Canon 40D in January and have loved it. My husband says I love that camera more then I do him. I wanted a 50D, but the 40D had all of the features I wanted and was about $500 less because it's the last model. I bought refurbished from Cannon and it came looking brand new and with a warranty. I agree with Malachi. Go Canon or Nikon and you won't go wrong. I prefer Canon myself, but I've always been partial because that's what I learned real photography on.
