Ayu's Project Journal

I have so many "projects" half done that I'm going conduct an experiment - I will list them here and post any updates and see if this helps me any. Muaha.

Okay, so here's the list (I will edit this if I remember anything I missed)

Updated 2009-09-14

- hubby's birthday quilt I've been working on since uh 2003? (30%)
- dining table project (100%)
- putting paint on the walls (90%) - we need to repaint the master bathroom - we picked the wrong blue!
- window coverings (we are currently sleeping in public, basically) (100%)
- ceiling fan(s?) (100% complete)
- lighting (20% complete) We got some bed side lamps for our bed side tables
- ironing board (need to hang that thing) (100%)
- fireplace (mantel? shelving? both?) (0% complete)
- cabinet knobs (100%)

So far, the project I've made the most progress on is the Paint Project - bedroom is done, office/2nd bedroom half done, bathroom needs a different shade of blue (we picked the wrong shade *sigh*)

Dining table has um, a spot sanded.

Quilt - um, about 1/2 quilted (damn thing is king sized, I think) and then need to do edging, blah blah blah...

PS: Our furniture's arriving this FRIDAY!! AAAAAARGH!!! (it's been 2 months coming)

After:

Cabinet knobs - 100% complete! YAY! Drill fixed! (FINALLY)

Next candidates:
- Living room rug

- Hanging the dresser mirror (we have wall anchors and screws.. need a level and stud finder)

Get your money back and move out of that dump immediately - there are plants growing on top of the kitchen cabinets!!!

(How can real estate people live with themselves, selling a property in that condition...)

We've got about two days left on a major project that took up this week: living room makeover, with new drywall and recessed lighting, new front entry door, added crown molding, new paint. Worst part is that when this is all done, the carpet comes up and looks like I'm putting in a new laminate or wood floor... myself. Pray.

Hahahah, we found those when we were unpacking - they're the fake ivy my best friend used to decorate her wedding reception with! We sort of draped it over the cabinets and it seemed to look okay

Ooo! Crown moulding! One day... and ooo new floors! Have you picked a color yet? I half wished we could've picked the stain ourselves but it works It'll be worth it getting all that carpet up, though. Take before and after pics

I guess we should eventually take some shots of our place. Our kitchen is finally finished!

Woot, dining table stained:

It used to look like this:

We bought new unstained plain square legs tapered on two sides and stained them black - have to take a more recent picture that has all black bottoms.

Wow, your place is starting to look really, really fabulous. You're making me feel completely unproductive, Ayu!

Allright Ayu! Very nice!! The entire place is coming together, and I love what you did with the table.

You might want to invest in a laser level, compass, and maybe some GPS devices - you seem to have a problem placing things in straight lines. That table is *definitely* on an angle!

I'll get around to some pictures, but we've finished the living room project (which ended up extending into the hall as well) with great results: when we pulled up the carpet, the floors were in *much* better shape than we thought, and we found a killer guy to redo the hardwood floors. Now I'm looking at red oak floors that had never seen the light of day for probably 50 years! Pics to come in a day or two.

The furniture arrangement is driving me a little batty.. We had angled the sectional to face the corner fireplace with the TV on top of it, but that means when you walk in to the place you see a wall of sectional in front of you, and people gravitate toward the far-less dining table to the right, instead. I think the flow/feng shui isn't too good, as people have to walk all the way around in order to sit on the couch.

Soooo at some point we'll be moving things around, probably

Some people like the funky angling of the room, other people are very thrown off by it

Late post on the curtains.

Back story:

When we moved Joey into his own room in July, it turned out the 6'x6' window in his 11' x 12' bedroom let too much light in despite the curtains that we got. He couldn't take his afternoon naps!

So I went to ehow.com and found this video series: How to Make Tab Top Curtains: Video Series | eHow Videos

And made these tab-top, black out curtains:

They took me over a week to finish.

Of course by the time I did finish them he was sleeping fine in the afternoon...

Next project: put some art on the nursery walls - it still looks like a store room!

in stead of listing all my projects I just start more and stash the others out of sight - inherited all my mom's unfinished quilt projects too = now I really have too many started.
