Question Export scultpy map and texture from zbrush

Does anyone use zbrush 3.1 for scultpies? If so, how do you get it out of zbrush and into SL? kthnxbai.

I use my student copy of Maya, with the script they provided on the wiki. I think if you download sculpty paint or pretty much any other free, sculpt supported program that can import an object you'll be just dandy.

They say they're working on a way to export it, in fact, I think a zscript does exist but it's impractically complicated so it's not really talked about much. But yeah, just use something like milkshape or Wings.

I am thinking about getting Zbrush as well (right now I'm using mostly Wings and Archipelis). I understand the idea behind importing an object file to Wings, but are there "pre made" starter objects with the right number of vertices for Zbrush? If so, where can I find them?

I think this weekend, I may "go geek" with the free trial: so in general I'm looking for tutorial suggestions. The Shiny Life ones look like a good start, are there any others you zBrushers could recommend?

The Shiny Life Tutorial is excellent - I spent time working with it today and had great success.

There is a link in the article to a free program that converts the obj file from zbrush to a sculpt map without needing anything else. It works great. The tutorial teaches you how to set the sphere in zbrush to have the right number of faces for SL.

Just a sidenote, I went to try Zbrush they have a trial you can get. I was so excited to try it, I read all about the cool features and it's at a reasonable price for my budget. It wouldn't work, I contacted support and apparently on a handful of Vista machines it's a no go at this time. The fact I can not try it makes me want to try it more than ever.

That's weird, it runs fine on Vista for me - I downloaded the trial as well.

I use Wings3D - export the ZTool to obj, import that into Wings, export into sculpt map. The exporter script and some templates can be downloaded from here: Wings 3D - Second Life Wiki

2k Suisei wrote a converter for ZBrush2 and ZBrush3.

Just another option for you.

There's another converter (command line windows app) on the forum somewhere that converts obj files, but I can't find it now. It's been a while since I explored all this stuff.
