| SpaceNavigator Support in SketchUp I've had my SpaceNavigator 3D mouse for 4 years now but I've never used it for anything other than SecondLife. I'm starting to make mesh homes in Google Sketchup, and my biggest time waster is the awkward keyboard camera controls, makes it impossibly hard to maneuver inside complex geometry. I know SpaceNavigator supposedly works with Sketchup, but see no options for it even after instating the plugin that came on the SpaceNav's disk. Has anyone done this? If I could move my camera in Sketchup with SpaceNav like I can in SL, I'd increase productivity twentyfold >_> |

My Mood: SL Join Date: Dec 2004 Client: V3 | Well I can definitely confirm that the SpaceNav works with Sketchup 8 running on Win7, it's been a while since I installed sketchup but I don't remember having to mess with anything to get them working together. I noticed that google throws up quite a few results relating to spacenav/sketchup issues, but most of the solutions seem to be OS dependent. According to some threads I just read a few people have had success with manually copying the driver files and script into the sketchup plugins folder (you should have a ruby file called 3DxSketchUp.rb in there as well as a folder named 3DxSketchUp which contains 3DxSketchUp.dll and some images and help files). Good luck getting it working, it's definitely worth persevering. I know I'd be as lost in Maya without my 3D mouse as I would be in Photoshop without my graphics tablet.
