Creating ads for clothing

Hello everyone,

I need your help. I've seen many ads where it looks like someone is wearing clothing, but there is no avatar underneath. An example would be this photo:

Can anyone tell me the best way to do this?

Probably the easiest way I can think of would be to use a green screen...but in this case a green skin...and then just mask select it, invert and you'd have your clothing selected only.

If you use a 2.0 features viewer you can have the avatar in the clothes use that alpha layer to be invisible. I have a set of alphas for feet/shoes that let me dump those annoying invisi-prims. I am sure you can get/make a set for a whole avatar.

Tess is right, and that alpha layer is in everybody's library.

It is three alpha masks there, "Invisible avatar", "No feet" and "No head". The Invisible avatar is just a full alpha mask.

Edited: Using that, you would see the back of the sweater too. The ad the OP shows, is probably used with a green skin.

Edited again: Alpha works on clothing layers too, doesn't it? Only prims would be visible.

You can't run Cool? I have Cool VL 1.23.5 (29) that runs better than viewer 2 for me atm. That Cool version has alpha and tattoo layers, and multiple attachments. It don't have multiple layers. Make your own acid green skin, if not someone has it and can pass you one?

Thanks for the help everyone. I think I'll go with using a green screen of sorts. I use phoenix, so I can use alphas, but that sounds like the more difficult option

You can also try to do so: take the pic inside a white box for having a uniform background, wear a new skin and make it completely white, then you can cut all the white part away with photoshop and you will have only the shirt without avatar ready to use with wathever background you prefer
I use to work in this way

Tutorial: Optimizing Windlight for Second Life Photography | Rezzable - that's a tutorial for "green skin" photo taking approach, at least in terms of creating a Windlight preset for that effect.

The "all white" method does sound far easier, though, unless you got white/light clothes.

Yes is very easy and fast, I use it also with dark clothes, the result is good the same The very important thing is using a precise selection without any nuance.
