My Mood: SLShopper Ads: 2 SL Join Date: Jan 9,2007 | Stretching Angst Arrrrggghh. Prim strtching is a nightmare for me. I've thrown out so many outfits with prim parts that I can't get right no matter how hard I try, I pretty much won't wear belts for the same reason. Do others find this as tedious, or am I just lazy? It seems that when I get one side right it throws the other side off so I am constantly going back and forth. ![]() Are there any tricks or is it just something you have to keep at to get right? |

| bouncy bounce ![]() | I think it's something you just have to keep at. I find having the stretch both sides helps enormously for things like skirts and belts. My av has a large butt so i have to fiddle around a lot with skirt panels to get them to fit over it. Totally frustrating it can be as well. |

| Shockable ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() SLU Supporter ![]() ![]() ![]() | Do you do 'edit linked parts' and just stretch individual parts of the belt (or whatever) at a time? Sometimes that can help, as if it's just a little bit poking into the body, click that part (rather than all the buckles etc. with it) and fiddle with that. Of course, if you need to adjust too much, then it could throw off the 'fit' with the rest of the item. But ticking that 'edit linked parts' box has helped enormously for me with editing, particularly belts, bags and hair. I don't think there is a trick to it, as such, it just starts to get a little easier. I will say that some items just won't fit no matter how they are edited. They fit the shape they are made for, and that's it. Some sculpted bags and jackets have been this way for me. They always cut through the breasts or the shoulder.

My Mood: SL Join Date: October 2003 | I've seen a few outfits that had prim parts and tried to adjust them. blech.. if it's a single prim thing, they never come out right while trying to stretch them. I think I'm going to start IMing the creators and asking what the dimension of the hips and asses the models have and list it on the items' sale sign so that I see if it correlates with my AV's shape. |

Business: Darkly Cute | I found that my avatar has a really round mid-section because I made my shape with a reasonable hip/butt/tummie form. The thing is... Many prim clothing makers build belts and skirts for the epic-hip-of-doom Frankenbarbie shapes. (>_<) Gladly... EGL styles still consider human proportions. (^_^)y

My Mood: | Only buy items you can copy. I prefer to edit stuff myself, because with resizer, belts never fit me "right". If the belt sit nice on the sides, they poke out in a loop behind. Maybe I have a flat butt, or wider hips than the designers? I totally love to edit linked parts, and uncheck the "stretch both sides". Most of the time I make the belt wide enough on the sides, then I select only the belt itself on the back, uncheck "edit both sides" and push the belt in a bit. I was in SL much over a year before I learned a thing: If I start to edit something and has forgot to take a copy, sometimes I mess it up. I can save the thing if I don't take it off. I open the inventory and take a copy and paste it in the folder before I take off the ruined thing. Prim parts aren't changed before you take them off, so the copy is as it was originally, before I started editing it. I am not sure if I explain well enough?

My Mood: SLShopper Ads: 2 SL Join Date: August 05 | I don't mind accessories and stuff like that. My avi is a little larger then most so I generally have to adjust everything I buy and have gotten use to it. What I can't stand are mini skirts with the prim piece in the crotch. I can never make them look right. My avi just isn't shaped for them and my stands just make me look like a freak when I attempt them.

Business: Vent du sud Blog Entries: 30 | Argh yes. OK, from the designers' point of view I can see the problems with suiting all avatar shapes. But oh yeah, frustrations. I've bought a couple of things from Lelutka that look just GORGEOUS... until I realise I need to mod the sculpts. I thought I was fairly handy with that, being a builder, but... no. There is one absolutely superb draped top in 3 layers. It seems to be utterly impossible to show the lawers without making me look like squat and top-heavy. If I get the back right, the front is all wrong and vice-versa. I've tried rotating, stretching, re-positioning and just... no. My av is smallISH and skinnyISH, but probably not as skinny as the 'model' shapes. But no 'extremes', so I thought it'd be easy. Wrong. Crotchpiece skirts? Ugh in general. Yay for the Pixeldolls one (and the Celeste freebie short skirts are STILL up there in the 'great fit' category too: I wear them with other tops, not just as the dress). Colour-matching: some of the pieces may be tinted grey as they were made during the period where you had to thanks to viewer issues. It's worth going to 'texture' and checking, as the pale grey isn't necessary on the later viewers. Depends if YOU want to see it right, or whether you want people on the newer viewers to see it right. I admit that I prefer it to look right to me...! |

I'm alright, thanks
| I'm really, really bad at this. I have bought so many things that I can't fit, belts and skirt waists that just look ridiculous. I just about get it right, and then my AO changes to the next stand, and my hands are stuck in my skirt. Also those little crotch pieces never look right either. I'm really relieved that I'm not the only one that finds this difficult.

| Senior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | And just what IS the cross section of an avatar thigh. I get something prim to fit and my AO changes how I stand and the fit is way off again. And don't even get me started on Marine Kelley's shibari set ![]() Tess

| No unfortunately you can't. The person will have to rezz them on the ground in order for you to modify them. I'm guessing the item is no transfer too, so they can't pass it to you with a copy of their shape, that would be the other option. |

| This is why I make multiple sculpt/prim variants for items intended to fit a reasonable shape well; it saves people lots of headache in the long run. I know I can't stand items that don't fit perfectly, I'm sure others are the same. ....more importantly, it saves me the headache of having to deal with them. If you can't fit things, you could always just go nude!

I don't know if its widely available to use on any prim items but i have seen on the feeds a scripted hud that you can wear, and give another person the right to modify your prims, a good example of this is in the bax prestige boots, you can allow someone to edit your prims for you. i also saw it in another pair of shoes just recently,or it could have been, prim feet, and you are able to colour another persons feet for them, but my brain isn't thinking right tonight so i can't remember who makes it (big help i am haha). i am sure it wont be long before someone will be selling something you can drop into outfits to let others mod for you???? (oh dear lack of caffiene, i really hope this reply made some sense)
