Help with new build (good scripter bad builder....)

Help in getting my club built...

I am building a club,
The entry point is a Spaceship Landing Bay, (incorporating vendors and TPs to other locations.)
(40 x 15 + 10 (sloping sides)
At the far end (40 meters away) there are 2 stairs going up to the dance / bar area (50 x 40 with large triangle roof (i would have prefered up and Domed roof with starfield above but a bit beyond my skills))

I would like to add a command deck to the ship forward of the dance area but not sure how to make it look good,
I am using megaprims but i am not sure how to make it match the shape of the landing bay etc. so any advise or in world help would be great.

I haven't worked with megaprims, Makoto, but I know you can copy a prim - or linked prims - by clicking on it and then holding Shift (on Windoze systems) while your drag the item.

i didnt know that i usually use the create copy function as it duplicates the prim exactly and exactly next to the original (so depending on the side you click you can dupe anything. And no messing around trying to match them up as they are alerady matched

Domed roof: turn the megaprim for the roof into a sphere. Then hollow and either dimple or path cut - worth playing around to get the texture looking good too.

If you don't feel up to calculating touching prims by using the axis co-ordinates, there's a free gizmo called the Prim Master (basic version, the pro one isn't free but I think is only around 200L). And probably awhole lot of other alignment tools but I know the Prim Master works on megas.

Theres an amazing one called Genetica that I would LOVE to have (but starting at US$150, and the version I want is $400, it's expensive). If you know of a cheaper one I'd love to hear about it.

When i first started out, i was given a whole bunch of textures with dubious origins, and while they often worked for the build I had in mind, they didn't fit completely, and it would be quite easy to find other builds with exactly the same textures. I have seen some rather large and somewhat well known builds using the same textures, and to be honest, it gets really boring after a while. Also, it's quite easy to recognize textures that were ripped from other games... so keep that in mind.

So I started making my own. Since you mention you have Photoshop already, I think that's pretty much all you need. The important thing is to build up a library of suitable raw textures to draw from. I keep a number of wood, stone, plastic and metal textures, and will not hesitate to take a photo of an interesting shape or texture if i see one.

You can then play around with these components and work them together more believably through the use of custom brushes, hue and sharpness adjustments, shading, etc.

You can also use Photoshop to make seamless textures too - Pattern Maker in 'Filters' is cool for making random effects, but if you want more control, use 'Offset' in Filters>Other, which will offset your layer a given number of pixels horizontally or vertically, allowing you to avoid making obvious seams.

You can downlead a free 30 day trial copy of Filter Forge, which is compatible with photoshop and has a library of over a 1000+ texture presets you can download and mess with. It creates seamless tiling textures at the click of a mouse too, and very nice ones.

I can probably help you with the building/texturing if you like. I mainly build prefabs so I'm used to working with megaprims and getting the maths right to make things fit. I'm no mean texturiser too

If I had enough money to buy Photoshop, I'd pass and buy Genetica instead.

Does Filter Forge work with GIMP? And if so how do I install it?
