| Okay, Argh - Animators, Help? I'm frustrated! I am trying to figure out how to make sit poses in an AO work properly. Every time I upload a sit pose, I'm generally a meter off on both the z and y axes, and it's about to make me go mental. It's holding me back from releasing AO sets! He'p me, SLU, you're my only hope (of not going insane).

For example, if it is too high, move the hips upward - it will make the avatar go down in the pose - or if it is too far away, move the hips even futher back, and it will bring the avatar closer. |

when the original sl avatar was made many moons ago. it may not be you, it could be the version you are using as i know one needed a patch because of the issues with the poses once uploaded into sl. i would do a search through the old forums and see if the version you are using is the one that needs the patch. | |

Also, when doing sit poses, the thing I've found that speeds up doing them is to start with one of the sit poses from the library and go from there - trying to get it right manually is a pain. Also, when you have the pose, hit CTRL-D to drop the actor to the floor - it also helps with the offset a bit. |

| Poser ... *shudders* But yes, the first frame is not part of the animation, it's used to offset and rotate the actual animation starting at frame 2 (meaning that to play the whole animation upside down, just rotate the avatar in the first frame, that's all) |

| Also..another easy edit is to select the "Body" of the character in Poser 5 (It will be a big circle around the character) Make sure your Translation and Rotation are set to the same as your T-Pose (frame 1) Usually this is "0". You can also select the hips and make sure that your spline starts at "0". Use the "Move Forward" and/or "Move Left/Right" (with feet IK off) to adust where your anim starts in relation to your T-Pose. You can use the spline editor (double click on the corresponding element in the Frame Editor to bring it up). Then hold shift key and drag across the appropriate Rotation/Translation spline to highlight the entire spline (It will shade black). Then hold the ctrl key untill the arrows point up and down. Then move the entire spline. This works great when the "Drop All Character Frames to floor" Python script blows your edit. One of the things I love about Poser is the multitude of ways you can accomplish the same thing by different approaches. Motionbuilder is like that as well. Note: for SL uploads make sure your T-Pose is frame "1" and orientated properly. Also make sure "Loop Interpolation" is turned OFF. For 2-3 frame poses this is not an issue however. I typically only use 3 frames for a pose and loop it on upload. Hope this helps |
