My "I was bored so I built this" Thread

Every now and again I end up with an unexpected free afternoon and I get bored and for no apparent reason I build something.

Here's yesterday's "I was bored so..." build:

It has no practical purpose. It's way too many prims for what it is. But, it was fun to build and it looks kind of cool outside of the shop.

That's the same building method I use. When I get bored, weird stuff comes out.

That trailer is pretty bad ass and very realistic. You need to get bored more often because your builds rock.

Wow, thanks everybody!

Here's the latest pic. I had made this rivet texture for a non-SL related project and just doctored it up a bit during my show today and added it to the hauler:

Advertising and/or vendor eh?

...hmmmm...

I'll work on trimming some prims off of it and make it customizable. I guess it could be used for display or have a practical purpose.

As it is right now it's about 68 prims. A little over the average vendor or display unit.

Thanks for the input everybody!

For a vendor purpose, I would make the side able to come down, versus the back. Gives people a little more space to view.

Either way, I love it and would like to pick up a copy as soon as you have it up for sale please!

Okay, you've talked me into it. I'll work on stripping it down a bit and giving the option of either the side or the back opening/closing.

Okay I don't know what I was thinking when I did the original prim count. I must have left out a bunch of stuff.

The original high prim trailer is 101 prims.

This one is 58 (or 60 with the wheel ramps). I'm just waiting for my script for the sides (closed, one side open, or both sides open) and the tail ramp (open/closed).

The question is, at 60 prims, copy/mod, is it still worth putting up for sale?

Oh, and I'll put a colour change script in it as well.

That looks so good. Yes, I do think that even at 60 prims it is still marketable. That would be a neat little vendor shop for sure. I like to hang at Bad Ass Bikes occasionally and can definately see this fitting in on that sim.

Bike sims
Car Sims
Carnival Sims
Truckstop Sims?

You just never know til you try.

Here's the finished product complete with colour changing components, individually scripted opening rear door/ramp and side panels. I've included the side panel texture in the retail box as well so folks can add custom graphics if they like.

If anyone is still interested it's available at SL Exchange Marketplace - BEAR & Son Car Hauler BOXED

Thanks again everyone for the encouragment and ideas!
