The PDS HomeSecurity Orb scans for, and optionally removes people (and optionally IMs the person who activated the system), within a range you specify and reports the detected people in text above the device.

The HomeSecurity Orb can push, teleport home and eject from land people using a target list or alternatively not on the authorised list. You can have up to 300 targeted people and/or 300 authorised people. Then either use it in "Private mode" like a house alarm which removes all but those authorised or in "Public mode" and remove only those on the targeted list.

You can also optionally allow land access based on group membership and even optionally allow control of the system to group members.

You can grant up to 40 others authority to operate this system with you or even allow a whole group authority to operate it.

This system works fully and completely on avatar and group owned land. See instructions for group set up. The system is suitable for landlords to place on rental properties and apartments and can also detect one land property from another even when both have the same owner or group owner. (Both lands will need a slightly different name only).

Unlike most security systems this system has a menu based set up wizard to walk u through the set up. Just answer 15 questions on the menu and you are done. No need to ever edit settings notecards however this is still an option and a good choice for rapidly setting up multiple systems. You can also tweak all individual settings via the menu at any time with a few mouse clicks.

The HS Orb can scan up to 96m from itself it all directions. The range is adjustable between 0 and 96m. The range limit is set by Second Life itself. You can also limit ranges upwards and downwards and with land borders.

This system can be networked with multiple other HomeSecurity systems to cover large land parcels or even dozens of sims in one integrated joint network which will act in unison. It only takes 4 HomeSecurity Orbs plus one "HomeSecurity Network Relay" to cover a whole sim for example.

Adding and removing names from the authorised or target lists is simple. Simply type "/8adda joe bloggs" to authorise Joe Bloggs to enter the area and use the menus to remove his access (or type "/8dela joe bloggs"). Many other systems sold expect you to edit settings notecards in the object then reset the scripts to make it re-read the new list of names.

Unlike other systems you can easily check for, and obtain, updates with a mouse click and be sent a update disk if any updates are available. Placing the disk near this system and another mouse click will upgrade the system without you loosing any settings in a few seconds typically.

The nature of the Linden Scripting Language limits all scripts to detecting and identifying only the closest 16 avatars.

Nightclub owners and other high traffic areas might want to consider using the add-on "HomeSecurity Guardian HUD" so you can two click boot trouble makers and see easily who is in mouselook and possibly aiming a weapon.

Online documentation is here: HomeSecurity Orb - Index

This system has been continually tweaked and improved for 5+ years leading to what I think is a very simple yet powerful tool. Thanks for considering it.
  • In-client web based up-to-date documentation.
  • Four modes: Off, Scan only, Attack those not authorised, Attack those listed as targets.
  • Suitable for all applications such as homes, shops, nightclubs, sims, multiple sims, sky boxes, rentals etc. If needed you can network multiple systems to act in unison to cover extremely large areas such as large land, a sim or dozens of sims.
  • Optionally allow 40 others, or a whole group, to control it.
  • Keep a list of up to 300 names in its Target list.
  • Keep a list of up to 300 authorised friends in its Authorised list (or authorise a certain group to always be safe).
  • Option of sleeping when Operators arive or leave
  • Logs visitors and commands for later review.
  • Web URL so you can see Orb status and land status from a web browser.
  • Free updates done by update diskette and are done in such a way that you never loose your settings or names lists. And typically only takes a few minutes.
  • Ability to Twitter so you can monitor visitors via the web. See examples here or here.
  • Compiled with Mono.
