My Mood: SL Join Date: 7/1/05 | We are back at it again -- sLiterary Magazine will continue with a Special Holiday Themed Poetry Edition. Here's the Pertinent Info: 1. What is it? — A one time, holiday themed version of sLiterary magazine designed to showcase the talents of our poets, without ads or short stories, only poetry. 2. Do Poems have to be set in SL? — No. Half of this edition will be real life poems (that have nothing to do with SL), so submit either, or better yet, both. Just make sure they are seasonal. 3. Why is sLiterary accepting non-metaverse poetry? — We want to capture the holiday spirit. 4. What medium will the magazine be in? — sLiterary will be published both inworld in SL as well as online. 5. May I submit in a language other than English? — We currently do not accept submissions in other languages. Non-English phrases may be used in your poem, but we will not accept poems written completely in a language other than English. 6. Who may submit? — sLiterary has an open submission policy, so anyone can submit. 7. When will the magazine be published? — Mid December, 2007. 8. What is the deadline for submissions? — Nov 30, 11:59 SLT (PST). However, we suggest that you do not wait until the last moment to submit. 9. What length submissions do you accept? — poems of all length will be considered, but epic sagas stand little chance of acceptance, as there will be no serializations. 10. What name should I submit under? — Authors are encouraged to use their SL name. "For fun," some established authors might want to completely disassociate their RL name from their SL "pen name", to start over on a different tangent. 11. Will writers be paid? — No, this edition is designed to publicize the SL poetic community, and without ads there's no budget to pay the poets - think of this as an act of love rather than a commercial endeavor. 12. Do you have any suggestions for new writers? — * Write what you believe is good, and submit only something you have thoroughly edited. * We tend to dislike writers who send pieces they haven't bothered to read over several times themselves. (Editors are people, too!) * We hate submissions filled with unintentional grammatical mistakes and typos. 13. Rights? — Authors retain all rights and copyright to their works. We request one-time, non-exclusive rights to print your writings in a magazine distributed both inworld in SL and on the website. 14. How do I submit? — Please email your story as plain text in the body of the email – not as an attachment – to: poetry@sliterary.com Submission Checklist 1. Indicate whether your piece has been previously published. Where, if so. 2. Please make sure to edit your piece so that it is formatted properly in plain text form. 15. When should I expect word after submission? — For this issue, about 2 weeks after submission. |
