My Mood: | Is there a market for amateur rentals? I currently own over 10k of mainland and have considered the land tier to be an entertainment expense. For most of last winter and spring, store sales put enough Lindens in my pocket to play with so as far I was concerned, all was good. But my sales have taken a major hit for rnonths now and don't show any signs of recovering. I either need to downsize my land holdings or find some way to bring in some extra money. Since I don't actually use all the land on a daily basis, I could certainly afford to set aside close to 4096k for rental -- if there's any market for renting from someone who isn't a major land holder. The sim is low lag and almost entirely residential, covered in forest land, with brooks and streams running throughout. My neighbors own equally large parcels, with attractive builds and some fun stuff, like a Wiccan Stonehenge. So all in all, it's an attractive mainland sim. So, any advice on whether it would be worth my time to clear out a section and cut it up for rentals? Are small 1024m plots more likely to rent than the whole 4096k? I'd prefer one renter rather than 3 or 4, but have no idea what people are looking for. If I should just try making boots instead, don't hesitate to say so.... |

| Well it sounds like you have an attractive parcel for trying to make some kind of themed rental .. question is, is it really worth the time investment, from getting the property rented in the first place (and set up if you decide on renting out the parcel incl. prefab / landscaping, which sounds like a good idea unless you enjoy playing at the aesthetics inquisition) to the ongoing landlording (getting the rent paid, setting up media streams, explaining prim counts etc). Honestly, with that situation, it sounds like the easier solution would be to rent out the land to friends for a competitive price. Also: get those boots done! You've posted so much about them, I demand results. ![]() |

My Mood: | For those who may be curious, the parcel on the left is the one I'm thinking of renting. The one on the right is under my sky store. ![]() ![]() |
