Redesign

After all your fabulous help in my previous thread I have decided to go for a complete redesign of Catt's Creations. In the last few days I've built close to 5 complete stores and demolished all of them as horrid - lol.

So I thought to myself, I'll work on the sales box graphics instead, give myself a break from building! And this is where I need help again. I've attached 4 different possibilities. I have absolutely no leanings toward any one option and am not even sure if any of them work.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Cookies? I could use cookies, this is harder than I thought. Yes, even if nothing else... cookies?

the third one, you don't want the background to be busy as it will take away from the product

I agree with Briana -- none of them really pop, unfortunately, but the 2nd one is the best of them all in that it's sleeker.

Whatever you do, don't go with a busy pattern or full picture of anything but your product being worn on a model. It detracts away from the item being advertised.

I like the border of the first one, but not the background, which is too busy.

I like the clean background of the third one (I'm partial to silver), but the kitties look "pasted" on.

Have you tried slapping a product pic on these, to see how it fits together?

or a little smaller.

I will be honest here, if you are to use kitten pics, and we all love kitten pics and you really want to make a go of your business, you will have kill the kitties. You could have the best product in all of sl on your ad, and with the kitties, people will view it different. Less is more

Your selling your product not kitty litter or kittens

If you really want to leverage off the cat angle, then consider a stylized cat logo, rather than a photo of fluffy kittens. As Tya points out, the latter simply takes up space and draws attention away from your product. Make the logo your own in some way, so it brands your product ads rather than just decorates them.

Also, consider an overall tone that you want to adopt and then carry that through all aspects of your marketing from type font choice to building style to photo poses. If you want to go for a modern, classy tone you're going to make different graphic choices than a fun, zany tone.

In critiquing my own store & marketing materials (which have gone through successive redesigns), I know that is a weakness of my own that could stand correction if only I had the time and the drive. I started with a funky, Soho warehouse build but never managed to reflect that tone in my product posters.

Now I have a more sleek, modern store and have gradually begun to rework my latest posters to match that look. It still falls short of a distinct and eye-catching style, but at least I don't wince any more.

Depending on the product any of the first three look good. Last one has certain problems (fuzzy out of focus hurts my eyes, assume would be "busy" with product in the ad graphic).

I do not know why, but my eyes hurt when I look at that But then I do have poor eyes. The cat ears over the CC is neat, it is the rest that hurts my eyes.

Many thanks everyone! ::hands out chocolate::

Tya, that looks awesome and yes please send to me!!

I think a large part of my problem is I don't have a "look" or an overall feel for my product, which is basically female clothing. I've got a bit of everything and don't really excel at anything. No-one is going to think of my place when someone says "where can I buy ..."

So the marketing is going to have to make up for it I think. And this is where everyone here has been so much help!

I've always wanted to set up my store like a street market/garden type environment but everything I've ever tried has ended up looking too much like the oh so many malls we have in SL, so honestly thats out. But I cant get a feel for what else I want to do - thus the multiple building tries over the last few days - and that also effects the look I want my sales posters to take.

::sighs:: I know a lot of you have been here already so I want to thank you for letting me vent as well as throwing out ideas for me!

Don't feel bad, I have had my store for almost 4 years and just recently I have decided on a my logo and overall design. it takes a long time until you feel what you have is right for you.

I've been at it for about a year and a half, and I still have soooo far to go. But on the other hand, I started off in a Linden OOTB kiosk with two shapes for sale. Despite an innate lack of talent and imagination, I have kept at it and doggedly improved. Overall, I'm enjoying the experience of pushing myself outside my comfort zone in ways I could not afford to do in RL.
