It looks awesome! If I were to buy this I would expect it to be over 1kL

Well, I've read all the pros and cons of pricing but honestly, it is an exceptional work, the level of detail is amazing and there is no way I would price that under 1k.

Great job.

Also, there will always be people who simply can't appreciate the amount of work that goes into something like this. I've seen avatars for 500L, many of them, that aren't in the same league, sometimes you have to give yourself the self-respect of charging a fair price for your work.

Plus, if you practically give it away, too many people will snap it up and to be honest, it's the kind of thing you wear to "wow" people with, you don't want it to be commonly owned.

This is also something I don't get, too. People will spend over 1k on a skin hundreds of avatars on the grid are wearing and that is just a single makeup. Sure, it is going to look different on you but it is still something a lot of people wouldn't think twice about not only buying once, but coming back and spending that amount over and over for different makeups.

Seriously.. and this is for both sides.. let's TRY and keep focussed on the task, which is the votes on the poll. Those progress bars are really what this thread is about. I appreciate the feedback, both positive and the criticism as well, but this really is JUST about the numbers, not about "pat me on the back".

I am grateful to see that there is some "where can I buy this?" buzz.. Frankly, I have been a bit concerned that no one would actually WANT it.

I came back to SLU because, to be honest, my inworld circles have kind of faded. I've spent months hiding on my building platform, and it's gotten lonely, and quiet up there. I'm a social artist, I like to get people's reactions to things, it helps me decide how best to do things. Much of this avatar was steered by feedback from friends. (especially the hair).

The numbers issue finally came up when I had run out of things to do on the avatar. I knew the vendor art had to be done, so I put it together, and then came here to see if people could help me select a price. The discussion IS helpful, both personally, and in terms of setting a price.. mostly though, it's about giving me the confidence to set the price I eventually decide on.

I dunno if that makes sense.
Ok, one last post. Sorry I tend to think in spurts that is why my post count is so high.

My most expensive clock was 500L. It was probably the most work aside from one other clock, due to scripting, not just building/texturing.

I felt odd about it but it was one of our most popular clocks.

It wasn't in the same league as your avatar, at all.

Go and price that for 1k or more with total confidence, hon.

I've always disliked when I saw skin for sale at 1K and there was just a single make up in it. I bought one of the Pixel Deep skins for half price, and even at full price (slightly less than 2K) the price is for a package, not a skin (can't buy single skin, though can buy "make-up" texture to edit it into the skin). Many different make-ups with three levels of hair level.

I'd pay upwards of 1K for a full avatar before I'd spend 1K for 1 skin (1 = 1 only; not talking about something like Pixel Deep where you buy "1" skin and get like 20 make-ups for that skin in the package).

That's too high a price IMO, and stupid people who pay that considering the competition in skins currently IMO - there's much cheaper skins out there. My most expensive skin cost me 600 L$ per version, and that was a dark skinned male; which is one of the harder to find skins in good quality in SL and therefore lacks the competition you find in caucasian women skins for example. I never paid more than 200 L$ per makeup for any skin on any white female alts. I never had problems getting compliments on my looks that way already.

But regardless, to come back to the comparison -

Most avatars in SL are still human. For them:
A good skin is a necessity (unless they're a former CEO).
A good robot avatar is a toy (unless they're one of the few who are robot 24/7).

Not trying to devalue Winter's work here, I think I made it clear enough how much I love it.

No. It's incredibly presumptuous of you to decide people are 'stupid' for being willing to pay a bit more for a skin which better suits their desired look. Even if we're talking about 'Caucasian female,' there are HUGE differences between one skin and another.

Also, Winter... your ad is really nice, but it does not do it justice just from the other pics I've seen. Offer a notecard or something with more embedded pics? Srsly.

I wasn't really sold on it until I saw the second set of pics, Winter, you need those high rez pics in your ads/vendors.

Daman, the skin market is large enough to gauge the average price and I would say if you average it out it is around 600L. So 1k for the premium skins on the market is not unusual and it's paid for every day.

I've been spoiled because I wear the old Galas, which are all 500L but they are old skins, now. When she brought out her new line last year at 1k a makeup I balked, now that is nothing unusual for a skin of high quality. Sure, there are skins at half that price that are lovely but they may not be what I want. I'm very, very picky.

If the crowds buying Lost's skins are any indication, either a lot of people are "stupid" or you are underestimating the value people put on their skins.

That said, an avatar of very high quality/unique design is not that common and as I've said, I've seen the same price for inferior work. 1k is a reasonable price.

No, not yet.. there's still a bit of tidying work to be done on the flight assist. It's basically going to be a modded "Flight Feather".. with a couple of changes.

Gonna offer the actual flight assist as a freebie item in my shop, but I'll include it with my "just for looks and fx" jetpacks.. and will probably be retrofitting my older flight devices to eliminate all traces of XFlight.. and have it be MUCH easier to use the jetpack designs I made, while taking advantage of better flight assist scripts that people prefer in their multitools.

So very true!!

As such, how about a Limited run .. or a Limited Edition? With the thought of a single figure number out of a hundred, say, stamped on a serial number panel, I'd put my name down on a waiting list and wouldn't blink at 2000L$
