I would happily pay 1000 - 2000 for something of this work since I regularly (and alarmingly) buy avatars such as these, IoW Dragons, Sense Monsters and FFX Avatars for around those prices.

But to be realistic, and if you want to sell, i think the 700-900 price point would be fair. And as for the Japan SL'rs comment, yes, they'd probably sell at around that price point as well. I've bought a fairly accurate reproduction of a popular Busou Shinki figure from a japanese maker (google busou shinki YDA for the curious) and it cam complete with transformation capabilities for only 600L.

P.S. where and when are you selling?

Doesn't appeal to me much, I'm afraid. I've seen significantly better robot avs.

We need to get you some 70's clothes and some long blonde hair so we get you to run around yelling "Marsha Marsha Marsha!!"

i think alternate parts would be cool cos i reckon i would get bored of the same exact av everyday, and i couldnt really buy clothes or anything for it.

Well that wasn't necessary Dancien.

But I think Nina has a point actually. Modular components are something I'm working on myself as well.

Neither was Warkirby's comments on Winter's AV josh..

And BTW.. after seeing what the texturing is like up close, I'd just like to say Warkirby wouldn't know a good texture from a ham sandwich

I already said his comments weren't necessary. Is insulting Warkirby a great direction to take the thread now?

For the record, Lucifer asked me to post a few more pics. One of the biggest problems about SELLING this Avatar, is that it's so.. well.. big. I mean, it's small, but there's a lot of places on the body I could highlight. The hip joints that are a little loose, the cool shoes, the really amazing hair, the jetpack, etc.

At the end of the day, I'm selling the WHOLE avatar though, not just a part or two. And with only a 512x512 vendor panel to work with, and lots of customers who can't cam-in.. (it's an intermediate skill).. I have to really "show" the product in only a couple of pics. That's why I use the ER template, it assures me of getting SOME text out there, permissions, prim count, etc.. but gives me MOST of the vendor for pics. Still, it's not a lot of space.

In the end, I had to simply focus on pics that "sold" the avatar as a package. And that left out the wonderful details in the hair, the jetpack flames, all of that stuff.

Here's some more pics, at Lucifer's insistance.. for you to peruse when making that price-point vote.

Jetpack effect. NO PARTICLES. This is really my first attempt to use "glow".. the results, I think, are better than ANYTHING I've done so far with particles. For those who can't see Glow.. I did spend a bit of time texturing and primming the flames. (3 prims each). The jets and sound effects WILL work in no-script zones.. something that I spent 2 days working out.

This is the "package hair".. the avatar's skull is actually designed to work with most prim hair. (I have a hair from Armidi that I just ADORE with this avatar). You can see that the back of the hair has quite a bit of detail that you just don't see on the vendor art. The hair is moddable, and the "strips" are actually white, and then tinted red in the box, so hair colour can be easily changed. (one of the reasons I buy "blonde" or "silvers" hair packages almost exclusively).

This is what she looks like with "Dynamic Reflections" turned on. I really liked some of the effects, but since it's a debug setting, I felt it would be dishonest to show this effect on the vendor art.

More dynamic reflections.

So much of this avatar is about how it fits together, how it moves.. and for that, pictures won't really do the job. I'm strongly considering hosting a bot to "model" the avatar in my shop, so people can SEE it for themselves.

With robot kitty parts I'd pay more than 1000L (wow, I almost left off a zero there. "I'd pay more than 100L! What . . isn't that a lot? Why are people starring at me?").

As is, I'd need to see what it actually looks like in world. The prims are not a problem - I tend to walk around with a huge very primmy car attached to me (one or another of the Primouth autos). My only concern is that I keep coming back to Grendel's children in my mind, and the most expensive one I saw there was a very neat werewolf that used a hud to transform between werewolf (biped or all fours) and human). Comes with human ao, and two werewolf aos. Completely different avatar type, of course, but it was the last one I saw, and the most expensive at Grendel's I've seen. 500L it is (the one that does not transform is 400L).

I know that Grendel's also has robots, though I don't think any are female. It depends on what you want people to spend and how many you want out there. If you want to sell a lot you have to keep Grendel's pricing in mind. Grendel's is one reason that I've never tried to make and sell an avatar (I made a devil neko once, early stages, realized can't really build, and pricing competition). If you want exclusivity, a high quality product with few users, then 1000L would be too cheap of a price (one of those odd little things where it might be too much for mass production/selling, but too little for high end exclusive product).

On the other hand I am a female bot, might be nice to actually have something more than the name. Occasionally converting into a gynoid might be nice (technically I'm currently a cyborg like creature). If there was some way to wear a collar with it, I might personally pay more than 1000L.
