Question Wanted: Known RL charity avatars

Hi all,

Not sure whether this is filed correctly or if it is better suited to Content Creation, please shuffle accordingly.

So, what I'm looking for is a list of avatar names that are associated with recognised RL charities. Here's why:

1/ Looking to develop something and I've got no real need to profit from it. I plan to use tier-free lots or kiosks at friends places, no tier concerns.

2/ Rather than just release it FOC I would prefer that anyone paying for it pays a charity (their choice from a selection) instead. No yet sure whether a fixed price or a tip > a minimum amount is the way forward. Need to mull that over.

With that said I thought about placing a notice beside the vendor so that buyers could compare the charity/avatar name with the name on their blue 'you paid' popup. I'm sure it would be a lot simpler if I chose 1 charity but 1 or 10 the same concerns exist.

For transparency I can only see two possibilities:

- that I ask them (charity avatar) to box a copy to ensure ownership and direct payment.
- I make the ownership set to an alt and publish publicly the transaction logs for that avatar.

Either way I want charities to benefit, not resellers or any personal gain. Avoiding drama would be nice too but this being SL, well you know. Drama seems inevitable. If anyone has a better solution or thoughts on how to proceed I'd love to hear those too. Post here, PM me on SLU or something. Not inworld a lot so that's not the best method.

So, can anyone list some names along with the related charities please?

Thanks for reading.

I suggest you visit Plush Nonprofit Commons where 30 or 40 nonprofit organisations rent space from Anshe, The Commonwealth sims also host several charities and nonprofits (particularly Environmental ones) . I'm sure you can find avatars involved in RL Charities in both locations - both have groups associated with them

I've sent you an LM to the first location inworld

Do you mean a charity or a registered nonprofit?

Well I was thinking charity but I plan to get some time tomorrow to visit the LM Tyche sent me to see what's what.

As per original post, I'm ambivalent as long as someone benefits and it's a legit cause. Which one a purchaser picks is their choice so a selection should work.

It's not like it's a huge fund raiser but if I can setup. test and leave it alone without drama - great. That a cause benefits even in a small way is gravy.

Not massively rushed anyway, just better to ask this stuff in advance.
