Are they in fact there?
On OnRez you can search by category, subcategory, within your own search results and you can resort the search results by Top Matches, Price (Low to High; High to Low), Newer Listings, Older Listings, Seller Name (A to Z; Z to A), and Item Name (A to Z; Z to A).

I've never gone by popularity and/or rating and did not know they were on SLX. Also never realized could search by permission on SLX and also do not see it on OnRez. I never thought to search that way. May or may not be helpful to me personally.

Playing around I can search by tag. If the sellers would add a tag like "mod" or the like, then you could search by mod. I do not see any in my brief look who do that. Nor do I see a way to do that outside of tags.

I use them strictly as a search tool ... I find them in SLexchange or OnRez then go find the seller's store inworld to see the actual item before I buy.

I didn't realize the onrez searches could be refined like that. I did look for help on searching, and found nothing. Seems a good way of iteratively narrowing in on what you're after. With Slex, it's more about setting up your search and sort order, and then hoping the best stuff is presented at the top.

Better? No. I like OnRez interface much better. Technology wise it is Superior.

Results? Well that has to go to SLX for me. I sell alot more there. I think they still benefit from the whole "first to market" advantage.

There are really only two thing I personally really want from OnRez and I know I've asked for them before. One is the ability to stay logged in to the site so I dont have to log in each time (Or failing that have a login username and password field on the home page so I can do it quick). The other would be the ability to split payments with the in world vendor, as I understand it you can only do that with the site, unless this has changed?
All well documented feature requests. If I had any idea how to provide such features believe me I would, but I'm just the pretty face behind the support desk

Well from the customer end of things I can say I like using SLX. Not so much as a way to buy things, though I have, but as a way to find them and their makers. A link to an in world store, or a name to search on and picks/classifieds with landmarks to their stores. Also kinda like cutting the middle folks out of the deal.

What I want to know is if theres any way to change the object name of an item in your dropbox without having to re-enter all the data. The last time I tried to change an object name I had to re-enter all the data (SL Exchange allows you to select a new object from your box) and its useful to have the version number in the object name.

As for sales, I get a lot less through OnRez then SL Exchange and I get a lot less through SL Exchange than in SL. Lack of categories doesn't help, nor does the fact that there is loads of stuff in the wrong place.

Another annoyance is if you go into a sub category, for example Misc then Scripts, then click on the name of a seller in that category. You don't just see the items they offer in the category, you see all the items they offer. The count of items they offer also seems to include all their items, and that controls who is shown in the sellers list when you go into any sub category.

So I could pad up my items with free junk and get listed higher in the category my ranges are listed in. The first person shown in that particular list doesn't seem to have a single item that fits in that category and some of the others have a hand full out of dozens of entries.

Is SLExchange that much better than OnRez?
For some reason SLExchange has more traffic than OnRez. I am not sure why, since the web sites seem pretty much equivalent. From a seller's standpoint, OnRez has a slightly nicer interface, but basically it's a McDonald's-vs.-Wendy's or Coke-vs.-Pepsi situation. But for whatever reasons, buyers prefer OnRez.

OnRez offers very snazzy vendors which you can set up in seconds at your shop. They are really cool, the nicest vendors on the Grid... except, except.... no one ever seems to use them. (I say "seems to" because it is possible to click through to the web site from the vendors, so perhaps some of the "Web Purchases" began on the vendors.)

I far prefer working with OnRez's interface then SLEX. My sales are about 20:1 though , SLEX being the 20.
I did have a 2 month period last year where it surpassed SLEX. I still have no clue why.
I'd love to see a few more categories on OnRez as well.

And that's the crux of it for me - I'd be willing to give OnRez more credence if it didn't feel like I was putting my stuff out to a garage sale and not being allowed to see how many people came along.

OnRez may be free, but they also provide listing services, just like SLX does. Given they do cost a bit though, it would be nice to see which products I should push with these listings, rather than picking blindly, or based on which ones do well on my SLX account.
