Someone told me once, that haven been around for so long (Jan 2004) that I should be SLebrity, then pointed out the reason I wasn't famous was a) I didn't have a blog that b) bashed other merchant's stuff and c) raved about how great mine was by comparison and threw around proof-less claims about who ripped off who.
And for the virtual fashion industry there are a lot of people like that and some who take things way too seriously and won't hesitate to stoop to any questionable business tactic. Of course, there are many reputable and ethical merchants as well. But when you're standing in a sea of scammers, resellers, copycats and copybotters, sometimes it can be hard to spot the good guys.
Being mostly a niche merchant myself I've never really had to deal with such cut-throatery. In fact, my group SteamJunk, a merchant/fan steampunk community group has grown to nearly 300 members and has actually cultivated a real bond between many merchants in our niche.
Anyway, it's been long enough, that I've finally opened up a full-fledged online shop/blog/forum/support website.
