VISA PROGRESS

Well my visa is in the hands of the authorities (if you've seen Yes Minister that would make this extra funny). I loved the wording of this email, had to share "Your package has arrived safely at the British Consulate in Los Angeles and due to the high volume of mail received at this time of year, has just been opened." It's been three days, some poor kid receptionist or civil servant has a stack of mail higher than him, or he's just like Humphries and Bernard and there are just too many civil servants and no one works.
Anyway I have been told in this email "All settlement applications will be processed within 12 weeks (60 working days) as published on the UKVisas website. At present, the visa section in Los Angeles is processing these applications within 40-45 working days" and "Please do not contact this office unless we have exceeded any of these time frames."
And I am to wait on pins and needles for the next 10 working days if they have reached a decision that they need further assessment. If everything is a 0k which I don't think it is because I have been reading nothing but negative commentary online about visa tales, I should know sooner. Confusing? yessss...

I know this is really really wrong and I don't mean to insult hard working migrant workers, but my mother gave one 40 bucks today to do yardwork and he can go to a free clinic with his wife and numerous kids and I imagine Britain has the same problems with illegal immigrants. Its sad for both sides, but the irony of my situation isn't lost, spoiled as it is, but I too am working hard to legally do everything and go through hoops and at the moment and not until I am legally able in the UK do I have any health insurance. That's another issue.

I hope it goes through fast for you Lily. I am still waiting for Permanent Residency in Canada... they have been "processing" our application for a year and 4 months so far. We didn't even get a letter saying they had received the app for the first 6 months and we have no one we can call for updates. It is very frustrating.

It's Hell waiting for the bureaucracy, Lily... this anxiety is more about how much you want this than it is about them screening you out. Have faith in your path. You'll find a way no matter what obstacles there are.

Not sure if its appropriate to make an update with a new blog posting or just commenting here. Oh well-
Let the games begin. Enquiry sent to Worldbridge the people who handle online applications and payments. They will forward my email to the consulate. I said 10 working days have passed as of today and what is happening????
I'm totally stressed out, partially due to the 1,000 bucks I sent them. What are they doing with it? Having multiple tea breaks I imagine. I HATE just waiting and I want to know one way or the other what my next move is supposed to be. I need to strangle someone. Any suggestions? Woman on edge, murder for hire.

Not much of an update, however I'm assuming my visa is in progress. They probably shipped it off to England where they will scrutinize my sponser and then I'll get it back. They haven't contacted me yet to say there's been a problem on my end so this is what I'm hoping. And now I can be in happy la la land and enjoy the holidays and figure out what to do with my dog and belongings. I'm praying I can be there by the first of the year so that will be a nice transition, and I can write a book called Year in Newcastle (a Year in Provence is oe of my favorite indulgences), and start the adventures, whiskey tastings, and food festivals of Northumbria with New Years Day.
