Newcastle Itenerary
So far we've done lots of walking through Newcastle. Saw the Millenium Bridge move, which they do every day at noon. Had a drive through the country to Alnwick in Northumbria for the food festival. Sampled enough for an army and picked up some Spanish cheese, local artisan beer, Italian olives, pastas, Ginger Wine, savory pork and meat pies. Had a walk around the castle gardens, including a poison plant section and a tree house with rope bridges which will make you seasick if a boy is behind you jumping up and down. Went to the Grainger Market where I feel at home because it reminds me of the Ferry Building Farmer's Market in San Francisco without the pretentiousness. Even had a stroll through a cemetery in blustery windy weather. oooo.
Later we'll do Whitley Bay, see the Angel of the North and art museums, Durham Castle, and the piece de resistence: Meet the Faulkers (Velm's parents).
More photos have been posted and more to follow.
Thank you very much for your well wishes and support, it makes me very happy to be a part of the SLU Community and get to share my story. Sorry to Cristiano that I haven't used snapzilla yet but here's the flickr link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wildone...7622402590132/

Thank You!!! We went to see the Angel of the North today and took a drive through Gateshead. We hung out in Saltwell Park which is a restored Victorian park, award winning including Britain's Best Park in 2005. Then we found and photographed places where my grandparents lived. I may wait till I get back to vista and post all the photos and make it a bit more complete and professional looking so y'all don't have to keep sifting through the oldies.Posted 09-24-2009 at 01:03 PM by Lily Joliat

Yesterday we went on a date to a fancy Italian restaurant named Secco. We stuffed ourselves silly and drank too much. Today we're going to Whitley Bay and see the seashore. And then later MEET HIS PARENTS. eek eek eek. Also either today or tomorrow we're going to do some neighborhood scouting to see where all we'd like to rent an apartment. This is serious. Will need some more booze.Posted 09-26-2009 at 03:25 AM by Lily Joliat

Yeah! I remember my grandparents taking me to Saltwell Park and I played on the aeroplane! It was cool, but I think they removed it when they renovated the place. It is really cool now though, we had a blast. The rose garden is just lovely. I fed a squirrel an acorn. And we watched a guinea pig trying to have sex with a baby rabbit. For about 20 minutes. We have pictures of this.Posted 09-26-2009 at 06:08 PM by Velmwend Pontoppidan

unfortunately, I can't find any pictures of it, just remember hearing about it and found people discussing it on the net.
I'm glad you're having a good time Lily!
