World of Goo

In the midst of all the multimillion dollar high profile video game releases right now, it is nice to find an unexpected masterpiece from a small, independent game producer. That game, World of Goo, is an incredible addictive puzzle game with an oddball sense of humor and compelling gameplay.
The basic concept is you use balls of goo to build a path to a faucet to suck them up into. The balls stick together and you can arrange them in a variety of ways. Physics also come into play as you have to balance your build so it doesn't fall over or get you into other hazards. As you play, new types of goo are added that have different abilities. Each level has a goal of the number off goo balls you need to rescue.
In some ways it is oddly reminiscent of Lemmings, but it is definitely a unique game. Anyone who likes puzzle games should definitely check it out - it is definitely one of the best releases in a long time.
A fan community has developed around the game as well, with level editors, new levels, goo ball mods, and other content being developed for the game:

A demo is available for the PC and Mac:

The game is also available for Linux, though no demo is yet available.
The game is also available for the Nintendo Wii through Wiiware.

The full release is downloadable from several sites, including Direct2Drive.
