A book that came across my desk recently is a new printing of Shel Silverstein's Don't Bump the Glump and other fantasies. I have always liked Silverstein's work and read it to my kids when they were little. His art is simple and distinctive and his wordplay is wonderful. What I like best is that he doesn't talk down to kids. He uses words to create melody with rythym and alliteration.
