So i have been secretly working on the posing feature that was planned as additional feature to the animation window. So far i've only made very tiny progress. I got some sliders set up for X Y and Z rotation and i can select the torso bone and apply these rotations to it, however, it currently makes the avatar explode (i had it better working before my last iteration), however it only lasts a split second before reverting back but i got some ideas how to get this working. If this even remotely succeeds we'll probably get the very first somewhat full inworld poser that is fully controlled by the UI, it could be extended to export into XML, bvh/anim if i know how these are structured, XML could be readable/importable and much later could be extended to feature multiple poses with the option to blend in between poses with a set blend time. In theory this would allow fully animating your entire Avatar for as long as the Viewer is capable of exporting and importing these files (they will get fucking huge very quickly). If this works out. GG, i'll break the fourth and fifth wall, divide by zero, create a black hole and travel into a different universe where all SL animations are forever free ruining every single animation creator in SL on the way.

I found the BVH file specification. Doesn't look like it'd be too complicated to export to. Interesting sounding feature for avatar creators or modders!

Nice work. I can see this being a godsend for photography posing, no longer needing create/buy anims for custom poses (or hope you had something in the depths of your inventory that would fit the creative vision) when you're probably only going to use them for the one portrait anyway - just have your model use a viewer that has this feature....

I'm guessing this is only client side, so it wouldn't really work for the model to have the viewer unless they were also taking the pics. Being able to pose other avatars locally would be pretty neat, but Oz axed that idea. So you're probably going to have to use the viewer to create the pose and then export and upload it to play for the photographer.

Exactly. However this feature is extremely extensively extendable and could be both server side (which would be totally against the vision of LL and the point of pose-anims in the first place, although i would totally welcome it) and client side with export to technically every file format in existence, given i manage to write one. This feature could even be extended to be synced between Viewers but that would go too far for my personal tastes, i don't want a feature that forces people to use my Viewer to see something like this, although arguable you could say that i'm doing that with graphics and the overall experience already.

Black Dragon Update 2.7.7: The performance update

If you like the Black Dragon viewer, you should definitely enjoy this one. On my old computer, the performance pop is definitely noticeable. If you have been thinking about trying it, this would be a good version to start on.

(Even though Niran still keeps your Linden amount hidden in you inventory because he is evil.)
