This is my one and only response to Joshua on this particular subject, because I don't want to get drawn into the endless loop that I mentioned in my previous post.

Joshua, you can be extremely insulting. You know how to use your words quite well, and you do use that to your advantage. As I stated in my earlier post, it is often times impossible to see where the insults start or who started it. Yes, most of your insults appear to be after the fact, but they are still insults. They don't have to be racial, sexually oriented, or anything you listed in your post. Insults are insults, in whatever manner they are delivered.

As for the banning issue, as I said in my post. I have great respect for Cris and his moderation here. He puts up with a lot of stuff. I'm not judging his moderation, but stating the obvious. You aren't getting banned or suspended, and arguing with you is pointless. It only gets the person arguing with you upset, and in some cases, their posts devolve into petty insults that goes on for pages between you and the others.

As I said, I have nothing against you, or anyone who was arguing with you. It just gets tedious going through a dozen pages of back-and-forth between you and others in a variety of threads.

Trasee....it takes A LOT to get someone banned here. Joshua no doubt toes the line on many many occasions but he's not crossed the line as far as I can remember.

There have been less then a handful of people that I remember since I've been posting here that have been banned or even suspended....and the vile they spewed was horrible and beyond uncalled for.

This would avoid reusing the flag, and provide a framework for a cleanup later on.

Umm, how about your propensity for asking guys to show you their genitalia? Since by the law of averages at least SOME of them are probably straight (or at least not attracted to you) would not your publicy embarassing them that way constitute *gasp* sexual hassment?

Oh, and no, you do not get to say some variation of 'it was a joke'. You do not accept it when other people say that so turnabout. To most people it is just 'Joshua being Joshua' but look at it with a critical eye and I think you will have a different conclusion.

Well, that's the thing. I very rarely enter a thread cussing and swearing — I say very rarely but I mean "probably not ever," but who knows, I've been here for seven years. In this thread Latif was absolutely foul to Kodah and I wasn't the only person who found it distressing. I don't think you can decide that it's irrelevent who started what, because if Latif hadn't been an asshole we probably wouldn't have had this exchange for nearly two thousand posts.

Yeah, I suppose I could choose not to address it, but why should I have to choose between telling a bully to stop being rude or being silent? Keep in mind the very same morning Kodah had just posted in a different thread that he's afraid to participate on SLU because he feels that viewer developers are often abused.

The person who got in trouble here posted something false and libellous which was deleted, and then proceeded to be creepy and stalking for pages before Cris had enough. Can you honestly say I've done anything similar?

I know what Cris' rules are. Being acerbic to bitches isn't against any of them.

Anyway I don't know why you need fear posting anything negative about me, nobody is going to groan at you and I can tell you without fail which of the usual suspects will sniff the air and rush out to do their infrequent drive-by yeah-thats because of something criticising me.

I do agree with you on this. I was speaking in overall terms, the way most debates with you seem to go (which seems to eventually turn into insults).

I never said anyone shouldn't address things. Just when things get too personal (usually for the other person involved), things go downhill quickly.

That type thing wasn't what I was referring to. I didn't know anything about that trouble. I know that sort of thing happens, and Cris is very patient with that. I never said you did anything to stalk, just that when you do respond to someone, you do tend to reference things from other threads, recent or old. Most of us do. It is human nature.

There are those who defend you, even when you are perfectly capable of defending yourself. I have seen how others respond to criticizing posts directed at you. That comment was posted because of my own personal observations here. Whether the observations were right or wrong, I can't say for certain. It could simply be just the person or the way it is presented in the end.

I generally specifically ask people not to defend me alone, both because, yes, I am capable of doing so myself and because with some rather vitriolic individuals sticking up for me made friends and people I care about targets for abuse-by-association. The unavoidable side effect of this is that some people run around gleefully trumpetting that I have no support, but I would rather that than have a friend bludgeoned because they disagreed with an asshole's assessment of my character.
