I just saw this post, and it is totally uncalled for. Dismissing others as trolls while being a complete asshole yourself in this thread is ridiculous, and the not so subtle dig at gay people is lame as well.

I seem to recall you are the same person who accused me of hating blind people because I thought non-mesh supporting viewers should be blocked.

I never made such an accusation. I merely pointed out that calling on blocking the viewers that don't support all the features of the official one might have unintended consequences.

I never made any digs at gay people either. All I did was pointed out what sort of things Joshua finds relevant to post in this thread: who is he dating, whose penis he would like to see, and short stories on what he finds irritating with his hand luggage.

I must agree with Latif about the fact that he did not make a dig at gay people Cristiano (though I have no wish to get into taking sides in this juvenile sparring contest, I think the thread topic is too important) - he was simply responding to an allegation by Joshua that I saw no basis for when I read his post in context.

No, he was not. The "talking about sucking penises" comment came completely out of the blue and was directed against myself and Nebula — both of us are gay — without any justification whatsoever.

The quote Cris replied to was the original reference where Latif alone brought "sucking penises" into the discussion. Neither myself nor Nebula have discussed such a thing at all. You must be confused with a different and later post, not the one Cristiano quoted.

Not that I really care, but Latif certainly seems to have an issue with it.

ETA: Case in point, he reduces a six year interaction between myself and one of OpenSim's core developers in a side discussion about OpenSim's timeline to "who Joshua is dating." Evidently this is an extreme issue of discomfort for him, but when I'm involved in an exchange with someone who is simply making things up regarding a subject I happen to be well aware of, I think my involvement in that would be as relevant as any other long-term relationship. If this makes Latif feel squicky, I'll survive.

I really don't know how high strung you have to be in order to carry such a grudge from three sentences ("short story" ) but if a single post causes you this much unhappiness, you're really not going to be comfortable on SLU. Threads drift. People go in and out of topic. It happens, the long-time members are used to it and don't get itchy when it happens. Frankly your consistent rants throughout the thread about me being a troll and "sucking penises" were more off-topic than three sentences in a single post about me not liking branding — which was a response to a remark about viewer tags being like labels on clothing. Again, these things don't happen in a vacuum, and for someone who went on and on about what a liar I was because both myself and the forum moderator took your bizarre meltdown in the past a specific way, you probably shouldn't misrepresent what others say unless you want to look like a hypocrite and a liar yourself.

To be honest, I never considered Radegast to be a viewer until version 2.0 (iirc) when it got the 3D graphic display implemented. Before that, it was "only" a text client in my books, just like those smartphone clients that connect to SL - though specialized for better accessibility.

Maybe Latif should have referred to 'showing' rather than 'sucking' but as Joshua is quite open about his sexuality and is the one who goes on about penises I didn't think it was too out of line.

Most of this bickering is completely beyond my ken, but I know a gay jibe when I see one. I'm pretty familiar with the tactic of straight people using references to being gay as a weapon, as a means of sniping or digging. Somehow it's "okay" to use that knowledge to disparage someone, and it's just sheer coincidence that out of all the dozens, if not hundreds, of comments the gay person has made, it's only the irrelevant ones about gay sex that get dragged in to make a point.

I don't happen to consider being gay an insult, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize a gay insult when I see it.

Yes there is a block option, i don´t use it much because some comments should not be left answered. Blocking the mean, the bad and the ugly and leaving them unanswered, is preteding it´s not there.
