eta: there has been 2 times I went way over the line and Cris kicked my ass. I won't be going over the line anymore. This is a heated debate with one side feeling they have the right to do anything they please while LL has decided to put a stop to that behavior. I am pretty sure there will be others that discover the limits the hard way and come here and go ballistic. Cris will have to deal with them in a fair manner. It is a touchy subject.

I think I can understand one reason why they want everyone to have a consistent community experience. If Viewer A showed something that was different from Viewer B, it could make a holy mess of abuse reports. I could also envision where this might possibly open up a black hole if any legal issues are involved as well.

Overall I like you. I much prefer you when you're rational and cognizent. But, Ann, you have serious issues. I do not know if they come from the lack of a substance that should be in your bloodstream and isn't, or the high addition of substances that shouldn't be there and are. But the fact of the matter is that there's Reasonable Ann who is funny and interesting to be around, and there's Crazy Mouth-Froth Ann who isn't. There are precursors to the appearance of the latter which follow a pretty predictable pattern. I like you, but with all sincerity I do not think this communication medium is beneficial for you. I also think when you're off your rocker you get utterly abusive and hateful to any and everyone around you which is inexcusable whatever issues you might be dealing with.

Your autism rant in this thread is one such particular example of this sort of abuse and was uncalled for. I don't know what your issue is — and it's very obvious that you do have issues — but I think Cristiano has demonstrated incredible patience with you as you take it out on him and everyone else at SLU. I wish you would get help, because Reasonable Ann is a lot nicer to be around.

Oz Linden's particular personal problems are ancillary to the stated policy. And personally I hope Rodvik is paying attention to this thread, as he usually does when contentious issues come up, and I hope he realises that a lot of his employees are dicks and need to be slapped repeatedly until they learn to stop being dicks.

But this is moot, because I can immediately understand what he means and why your mesh deformer and jiggle tits violate the policy but RLV and other demure graphical frontends for scripting features do not. I know you can understand this too, so I really don't get why you're feigning ignorance about it.

You know I have the utmost respect for you, but I think here you're taking out your personal issues with Oz — who, we all agree I think, is a dick — on the overall policy change itself. The way he's acting is absolutely ridiculous but there's no way for any of us to change that if he's got Rodvik's backing. I do fervently hope Rodvik looks at these repeated instances of LL employees directly allowing their attitude problems and selfish power trips to damage and hinder SL in tangible ways. I also hope that instead of looking the other way, Rodvik decides to do something about it.

If you look at what the lab has pushed, it's pretty damned clear that they intend on changing secondlife from being an open-ended, user-created virtual world into being a closed-off cheap ass knock-off game platform (cf their shitty crystal game and their current fantasy game that they push on the login screen).

TPVs interfere with that goal, so they're being passive-aggressively eliminated.

I simply hope that after they kill off TPVs they don't turn their gaze to opensim and patent-nuke it out of existence. But I'm fairly confident that they will.

As far as Linden lab's current direction goes? If I wanted yahoo games, I'd be at yahoo games. Or zynga games. Or whatever it is LL is trying to mimic...

I really don't see anyone at LL trying to push Second Life into being a strict game platform. It's simply abysmal at it. It's abysmal at anything with more than 20 people on a sim and even a cursory examination of it would tell anyone at LL who thinks it can be used for viable multiplayer games that they're insane.

That's been standard practice for LL since I've been using SL. Virtually every major policy change or grid shattering annoncement has come on the weekend.
