Exodus Viewer

Exodus Viewer :: Beta 6 (12.01.02b)

Quote:
Added Firestorm’s mesh uploader. We’re still trying to work out the kinks, but we decided to add the functionality in early.

Added Qarl’s mesh deformer, hiding under the Advanced menu currently, within the Rendering Features sub-menu. Give it a try, if you know what you’re up to!

Added RLVa thanks to Kitty (from Catznip Viewer) and Chalice (from NaCl Viewer). Enable this through the advanced menu. A restart is not required, thanks to Chalice’s changes.

Added a new "chat console" feature, rather than using the notifications/toasts, your chat can be sent to a v1 style console, which functions exactly the same as it did back on v1.

Added an option to have chat and instant messages in a very cool, mono spaced, Irssi inspired style, which some users will absolutely love!

Added a set of new options to the "FUI" buttons, allowing you to have smaller buttons, or buttons without icons, so hopefully you'll find a setting you like. If you've got any ideas for more settings like this, be sure to give us a shout!

Added a bunch of new buttons you can swap in/out.

Added a new button labeled, "redraw", this button will set your draw distance down to 0 for three seconds, then back to what it was set to before, useful for when things aren't appearing.

Added a patch from STORM-591, which fades in/out parcel media streams, very nice work Jonathan Yap.

Added script alert/notifications, allowing you to see when the script count in the region shoots up, or down.

Added option to move notifications and instant message chicklets to the bottom right, rather than the top right, thanks to Kitty from Catznip Viewer.

Added/replaced the vanilla build tools with Firestorm's fancy ones, with all the little copy paste buttons, and other improvements.

Added an option to see friend-foe arrows floating around the sides of your screen while in third-person, as requested!

Added a set of buttons to save or load position and rotation information of a object into it's description, very useful for when moving builds from one region, to another.

Added support for AZERTY keyboards (for movement, ZQSD rather than WASD), as requested!

Added the preferences window option to the menu's on the login page, most of the options should work while you're not logged in. Some are per-account settings, those obviously wont save till you're logged into an account, need to look into disabling those, if any.

Added an option to have crouch in a toggle mode, so you only have to press your crouch button once to stay in crouch, rather than holding it for extended periods of time, as requested!

Added an option to save scripts as Mono/LSL2 rather than forcing you to use LSL2 while editing scripts that are in your inventory, as requested!

Added an option to adjust your avatars Z offset, so if you're avatar is sunk in the ground or floating because of attachments/animations, you can go ahead and change your offset, as requested!

Added a new menu item under build, scripts, which gives you the ability to remove scripts from a selection, from the build menu under the sub-menu "scripts".

Added a high precision rendering mode that makes use of 64-bit frame buffers under Deferred Rendering. This allows for lighting information in deferred rendering to exceed a range of 0 to 1, allowing for effects such as light blooming on over-brightened surfaces. This is only available in deferred rendering.

Added shader-based gamma correction. This is only available in deferred rendering.

Added filmic tone mapping. This is only available to deferred rendering.

Added vignette. This is available in both deferred and non-deferred rendering.
Hope you have fun with this one, it's 6:33am and I haven't slept since yesterday to get this one out

Just to note, there are a few minor bugs that'll be fixed in the upcoming week, listed in the blog post.

This viewer has me in love.
EDIT: Trying to change the icons in the inventory isn't working for me. I'll keep messing with it but right now it's insisting on staying upon default anyways upon relog.

Thanks, I'll look into fixing that in the next update.

It was meant to be the original icons by default too, whoops. :(

Edit: I looked into it, they're set to original by default for the hotfix today (which will also fix white eyelashes and other alpha problems).

Good job.
Sorry another thing that isn't working for me, I'm unable to select muted objects to unmute, it's not letting me!

Few things not working for me, too.

-The alpha problems around the avatar eyes have been mentioned.

- Shadows collapse quickly after a few meters. How can i set the LOD to higher for these?

- Shadow quality goes up to 2 only? Could we have 3 or four? until 3 i hardly have an impact on rendering speed, but they look much prettier.

- I would prefer the default icons, too

- Could you lower the default camera height? Nirans Viewer is a good example.

How can I turn off the region entry spam?

EDIT: Yes I can. It's under various settings in Exodus settings

The only thing I've noticed that is a bit of a bummer, is that using /me in the new, minimalistic chat box will cause your avatar to do the talking/typing animation, when normally it does not. Also, any channel use results in typing-animation (/1 blahblah).

Love this viewer, it rocks! Thank you Ayamo and the Exodus team for all your hard work! This is by far my favorite viewer. Great FPS, rock solid for me. Great in and out of combat. Would love to see stream info, temp uploads, and texture refresh feature added sometime in the future. Hope you get some well deserved rest after putting this release out !!

It does have the local bitmap browser, which is a handy tool in replacement for the temp uploads. :3 And, as far as texture refresh, I did tweet asking about it but so far, on wifi on a less-than-top-notch laptop, I haven't had any texture problems. I don't know if it'll be needed with the other optimizations they claim to have done to texture fetching, but it never hurts.

Indeed, already pushed in changes with Firestorm's awesome "texture refresh" feature, so expect to see that in the next update.

As for the stream info, I'll be looking into that for a later update, as that'll take a little longer.

Edit: Geenz has wrote up a section on his progress on fixing graphics related bugs here: https://groups.google.com/d/topic/ex...V3Q/discussion

Toyed with the AO. Adding an Oracul notecard crashed it, unfortunately. So, I'll have to do this the long way.

Outstanding job guys. I'm ready to make this my main viewer and that's saying a lot.

I do have a few questions though:

How do we submit bug reports? I looked around on the Exodus blog but I couldn't find anything glaring at me.

I heard a rumor once-upon-a-time about you guys incorporating an autoresponder like Phoenix/Firestorm/Kirstens. Is that in the cards?

Will toggling RenderGLCoreProfile break the stuff that Geenz put in? What about enabling Vertex Array Objects? I get a performance boost from both of those on most other viewers.

Thanks again for all your hard work!

I think their odd little forum thing is proooobably the route they want, but I'd also like confirmation on where to drop oddities I find. I'm really liking what I see so far too, and nearly ready to also claim this as my day-to-day viewer.

This is really rather good... no, it is very good.

I did think you had invented a 'cloak of invisibility' button when I pressed the button at the bottom on the left side then figured out what it had done.

Nice work!

Okay we should have a update tonight that fixes most of the problems.

Sorry about the AO crashing when loading notecards, I heard of that happening before, will need to look into that further for the next update.

If you want a copy of the notecard, just let me know. I'm happy to help, testing viewers is something i find fun.

Thanks for the notecard.

Also, the updates out.

Quote:
Known Bugs
  • In some cases when loading a notecard into the animation overrider, your client will crash. We’re not sure what’s causing this, but hopefully we can get it fixed in the next update.
  • If you have buttons placed at the bottom of your screen, you will be unable to place your chat-bar into the bottom left, we’ll be looking into a fix for that soon, technically it’s expected behavior though.
  • In some cases other peoples rigged meshes can glitch randomly, if you're having problems try turning off "OpenGL vertex buffer objects". We're currently looking into what is causing this.
Not a bug, but kinda cool
  • Glow seems more “overblown” with gamma correction. This is due to the gamma correction process its self, and is not a bug. To get classic glow behaviour, turn down the number of glow iterations from 2 to 1 in the visual settings window.
Added
  • Added “refresh texture” feature from Firestorm Viewer.
  • Added option to see threat indicators in third person.
  • Added more adjustable settings related to glow, ambient occlusion and shadows to the visuals window.
Changed
  • Changed default inventory icon style to the original icons.
  • Modifications in attempt to clean up the preferences window and remove old UI preferences.
  • Changed maximum shadow quality to 4.0, as requested.
  • Sun/Moon light color is now gamma corrected when gamma correction is enabled.
Fixed
  • Fixed water rendering black (white under AMD hardware) under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed alpha blended fullbright objects being rendered white under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed eyelashes rendering as white under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed fullbright on rigged meshes in Gamma Correction not being gamma corrected.
  • Fixed alphas on fullbright requiring gamma correction.
  • Fixed projected textures not being gamma corrected.
  • Fixed rigged meshes not being gamma corrected properly under most circumstances
  • Fixed cases when using forward slash in chat played typing animation.

Random crashes. The log doesn't seem to show anything meaningful. It's sending the crash logs, so hopefully y'all squash this one in time, and I'm going to hope it's not a problem on my home computer (when I get back to it in a week). o_O

Edit:
It could also be the fact I'm on wifi. Gonna just shrug it off and will see if it's a problem at home, later.

Debian installer (oneiric 32-bit, probably doesn't matter) is not adding the statc VFS files app_settings/static_data.db2 and app_settings/static_index.db2. This gives a generic looking "missing files" dialog on startup and it fails to run.

Uninstall/reinstall didn't help.

I threw local copies into app_settings/ to make it run. Except for those two files, all seems to be well.

Cursors were also missing from res-sdl, copypasta as a quick fix again.
