If Firestorm have fixed that rigged-mesh related crash then I shall sit here with my arms crossed and raise an eye-brow over why it hasn't been upstreamed to the official viewer so everyone can benefit.

Honestly Sahk, I have no idea. I've tried rooting through their repo before to see if they had something marked "fixes mesh crash" or whatever, but admittedly I don't even know how to search it properly.

I don't even know if others experience the same things I do. I'd feel better if someone could confirm my experience. I only do know for certain that y'all have lots of crash reports from me, and I'm certain that it's quite irritating each time I forget to bald myself before I tweak something and I'd love for it to be fixed so I don't have to remember.

It's alright. It's a really weird crash anyway - some rigged meshes cause it, usually a lot of others don't (it affects me in this way).

I tried your workaround of taking off my hair and voila! no crashes. I've backed out of the latest beta for the NVidia anyways as it was slow as a wet week in deferred. Let's see if the crashy thing is still going on with the older driver...

I'm really wondering if it has to do with alpha textures being on the mesh.
ETA: Or, where the rigged mesh is attached..

Dangit, the driver downgrade didn't help with the lag spikes in deferred I see 12.8.28 is there now, I'll give that a try.

12.08.28 is a merge up to 3.4.0 beta 4 with some UI fixes that broke during the earlier 3.4.0 merge, so most of the UI should be back to normal now.

Lag spikes in deferred has been reported as a Linden bug (this one?).

Yup, that's the one, although so far 12.8.28 seems to not exhibit this. here's hoping!

It does. It's happened to me a few times already. For now I'm just going to leave shadows off unless I want to take a picture.

Mabb, could you grab the program called 'GPU-Z' and look at the 'Sensors' tab when it happens? I have a feeling the lag is being caused by the graphics card running out of video memory from the viewer hammering it so the driver starts swapping to system RAM a lot, which would cause system-wide lag.

The last time I experienced it this happened, but it only happened when I had Minecraft running (so I was forcefully reducing the amount of VRAM the viewer had).

Or actually, anyone who suffers from this lag could do this for me.

Latest 'stable' Nvidia drivers eat up all your video memory after a while; that might be related. The current beta drivers fix the problem, but at the risk of seeing the pink texture bug if your viewer hasn't patched it.

Will do. I had to get the ASUS ROG skin version, cos it matches my lappy

I'm on the 304.48 Beta from June. I did update to 304.79 but downgraded it as I was getting system-freezes even prior to updating Exodus to the first Pathfinding version (8.24?) and I hadn't had that issue before the driver update. However I see that 306.02 has been released so I might do a clean install of that.

OK first, a confession (and maybe FYI to others): I didn't take any notice of the change in default install directory. I have a shortcut to Exodus on my taskbar. Until last saturday I was mystified as to why the version number up the top never changed from 12.8.something, then I decided to do a clean install so I uninstalled and noticed the *other* install

Decided to uninstall everything anyways, installed 12.9.5 and its much better.

That may also be due to the other change I made on my lappy. Diablo III was giving me the same kind of issues and I searched the forums there and found a tip that has helped enormously. I increased my virtual memory to 16Gb.

Also updated to 306.02 (beta) driver which is now available for my 260m.

Now to see how SL performs long term. The couple of times I've been in world since doing this, it's been much better with the freezings.

GPU-Z stats have been interesting. SL in deferred raises my GPU Temp to 95 degrees! Prior to the upgrades and increasing virtual memory, my memory usage getting very close to the 1Gb capacity, the increase in v memory seems to make a difference and now its hovering around 700Mb. Go figure.

Seems like Exodus has also stumbled over this...little problem in Deferred. I´ve written a Jira for this issue.

Testing Beta of today seems like not having this issue, either it was a oopsie introduced or its really something driver related (i´ve recently updated them aswell but to whql, were too scared of trying those beta due to alot of people having problems with them)

Will soon try out Beta drivers and see if something suspicious happens.

Pink textures were fixed a while ago, but the stuttering and freezing is still happening. For me it seems no so much or so often with the changes I've made.

Beta and now my Viewer doesnt seem to choke on Deferred anymore, i´ve recently updated Drivers to 304.79 and rebased on Second Life Beta which threw in a bunch of changes. Im not yet sure if this is just Viewer or Driver related but if Exodus seems to get the same problem then i would guess its Driver related.

306.02 is out as of August 27th, as well, but I'm hesitant to try it. I saw the deferred hanging issue kinda bad and backing down on the viewer and driver versions fixed it. Were a lot of changes in the latest LL beta renderer related?

Trying out the Exodus viewer again and have the latest version.

The one thing I cannot figure out is how to walk when I have chat history open. I have to close it in order to move the avatar.

Any idea where I can fix that?

i think i´ll give those 306 a try now, more than just the regular BOOM cant happen i guess.

Edit: Tried 306.23 Beta ones, no problems , no graphic glitches with a GTX 460. Deferred freezings however arnt gone :/

Last week or so, no freezeups in deferred . 12.09.18 and I think .14 seemed to work well for me. Just downloading .22 now.
