I just installed the Release version and found it's much, much slower FPS-wise than the beta with exactly the same settings. (Exactly, save one: the Texture Cache setting only goes to 512MB in the Release version, but shows the full 1024 in the Beta)

My vidcard is an Nvidia GTS450.

Would the trick of setting Anisotropic Filtering and Antialiasing in the Nvidia control panel to my preferred levels and turning them off in the viewer be worth a try?

Govi, FUI = Flexible User Interface

or at least, so I am told. LOL ...I am sure you can come up with your own amusing interpretation.

It is the Graphical User Interface used in the Second Life Viewer 3.2.x and is now being used as the base GUI for TPV's such as Catznip, Nirans, and RLV.

I just cleared the cache on my laptop and changed the cache and bandwidth settings. My path and the bridge of the info hub rezzed properly. I don't know why I only run into this issue with Firestorm. I had this problem with previous beta versions as well. Firestorm has its own version of KDU, right? Could that be causing issues?

I don't think KDU is the problem. I had the same issue with a particular sculptie on a former version of Singularity, and Singularity doesn't use KDU.

I tend to agree with Andromeda:

FS uses KDU 6.4.1, going by the autobuild.xml file in the source, and I presume that's what LL uses as well (their KDU version is not indicated in their autobuild.xml) since 6.4.1 is the latest version, unless LL is using KDU 7 beta (which I doubt.)

We use the same decoder as LL. It's not the decoder, but in data corrupted on disk (that might have been corrupted during download). How does it get corrupted is an open question at the moment, but clearing cache / texture refreshing is a workaround.

If you're seeing unusual issues on Firestorm 3.2.2, but your performance on Firestorm 3.0.1 is fine, then use the alternate Firestorm 3.2.1 release. 3.2.2 works best for most systems, but there are a couple systems where the older renderer may still work better.

Thank You
Arrehn,

What are your plans for the 2 repos? Are they going to be merged at some point? Or are you going to continue with the 2 viewers approach?

They'll merge when we incorporate FUI, but that's a major release in the future. There will be a number of minor releases before that, mostly because we have been adding some cool features that don't exist anywhere else, and don't want to wait.

I've tried the new texture refresh and it works a treat! It's a great little feature I didn't know how much I loved 'till I used it.

Thanks!

Be nice if they brought in the feature to remove all scripts from every prim in an object, like phoenix has. It'd save me a lot of trouble when I'm trying to get my script count down.

Yes, those are all options available via preferences.

There's a lot that people can do to help, especially if you're positive and upbeat.
Where would I file this bug report? Is there a Firestorm JIRA of some kind? Oh a forum? What's the proper way to do this?

There's a Firestorm JIRA. Yes, really.

Alas, the alternate gives me BSOD errors in ndisp.sys

At present, I'm removing every reference to anything SL-related in the Registry and file system before trying a reinstall of 3.2.2

Maybe these problems are unique to me, but right now there are two things that keep me from using Firestorm and sticking with Phoenix 1.6:

First, detached tab windows never stay where I put them. Ever. And half the time, they're redocked. A minor problem, I know, but an annoying one for me. I don't like having to undock and readjust all my windows every time I log in, especially when one of the initial selling points of Firestorm was that you wouldn't have to do that.

Second, it runs like half-frozen ass on a computer that runs other viewers better at higher graphics settings. I can run Phoenix, for example, on Ultra at 128m draw distance and get close to 30 FPS on average. Turning on deferred lighting in 1.6 is a minor hit, dropping it to between 20-25 on average. With Firestorm, I get 20 FPS on Medium at 64m, and 10 when I turn on deferred lighting.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Probably. I'll eventually get it figured out or learn to put up with it. For now I'll stick with Phoenix until it's officially a dead viewer and tinker with all the FS settings when I have the time and sanity to do so.

Regardless, I do appreciate all the hard work that the Firestorm team has and continues to put into this viewer. Keep up the good work, guys.

Firestorm is my preferred viewer now. Even though i am experiencing some problems I don't want to go back to Phoenix.

Gotta had it to hand it to the support team. Booty spend all morning with me trying to resolve my bridge problem. She was very concerned that we were not able to resolve it and said she would continue to look into it. It may not be totally a Firestorm issue. Sometimes when surfing the internet it seems that when an excessive amout of info comes in, it causes my router to retrain and i momentarily lose my broadband connection. It also happens when logging in with Firestorm about the time it connects to region. Curiously it doesn't happen when logging in with my alt or logging in with Phoenix, so I am at a loss as how to resolve that.

If you use Firestorm 3.2.x or higher in Phoenix mode, there is no "docked" state for them to redock to. It defaults to floaters only.

I am having two minor issues. Firestorm doesn't seem to remember that I have derendered items. When I relog they appear again. And prims set shiny do not look shiny.

I'm not sure about the first one (prims always come back for me in any viewer) but the shiny issue is fixed in later builds of the post-Shining Fixes viewers. It'll be in Firestorm soon I'm sure.

That is normal with any viewer.
