I found these and have used them to fix the gross problem. However, I'd like to know what these values are for the standard viewer. My current settings leave my avatar rotating in a herky-jerky fashion, whereas her rotations used to be smooth and quite even.

yea im sorry for that i´ve just been told that... set Avatar Rotation speed to 0.15 in Advanced - Movement Panel , the viewer someone defaults it to 0.0 instead of 0.15... will fix that now... 0.45 is the Linden default making your avatar lag behind your rotation movement

expect 1.26 sometime today it will fix this issue and also include my new Minimap

Interestingly enough meshes uploaded with the deform checkbox set won't deform if it is mDeform != FALSE or anything. hmh.
Almost as if the asset system's not keeping the info, really.

Fixed it. Imma tell Qarl.

EDIT:

As for the fix, Niran? Change mDeform from a BOOL to a bool, change all FALSE checks and assignments to it to a 'false'.

then just have the if() check above do if(skin->mdeform != false).

Models uploaded before the fix won't get deformed either.

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to do much, if anything, on the ATI PCs. The viewer runs just fine on the one PC I have with nVidia, however (which I'm sure will not surprise you one bit).
Anyway, thanks for answering, Niran.

Hi Niran,

As a long time Kirstens user, I looked forward to downloading and installing your viewer so on went v.1.25 last night. While I really do like the viewer and hope to continue using it, some essential controls escape me despite looking all over the options.

1. Where is the option to change graphics levels, i.e. from Low to Ultra. My normal SL default is High but I want to try Ultra and see what the viewer looks like in that. Maybe it's staring me in the face but I can't see it. I saw a screen shot of an older version and it seemed to be beside the UI setting but it's not there for me in this version.

2. Where is the option to activate Lighting and Shadows? Yes, I know where the Advanced Graphics settings are but I can't find an option to turn Shadows on and off anywhere there or in General settings.

Not sure it's a good idea to hide the chat bar icon by default in this viewer and it took a while to find the arrow movement settings to go back to normal 'arrows always move avatar.'

Thanks.

Logged in just now this morning and although the box for 'arrow keys always move me' is ticked, the left/right arrows are not moving me, they just swivel the camera around my avatar. The option worked last night with the left/right arrows moving me. Strange.

1. i took them out of the menu becaus of space issues and feature wise problems , this overall quality dropdown sometimes disabled options forever which shouldnt be disabled at all , so i took it out until i´ve completly redone the graphic panel , in every dropdown theres an * , and at the top theres a text saying that * means Ultra equal settings , just set everything to the * marked value and you will see if you can run Ultra

2. its in Graphics , not Advanced Graphics , on the right side there are the shader and misc toggles , you have to enable everything in order to make lighting & shadows appear , means , you have to enable Vertex Shader to make Atmosshader appear , then enable Atmos to make Post process glow appear and then enable Post process glow to make lighting and shadows appear

3. the chatbar icon and a lot of other ones are disabled by default as it is not necessarily and everyone should know that the Enter key starts chatting , no need of the Chat button, its just space waste

4. the arrows always move me work differently now since i´ve implemented the rotation speed and degree feature , please watch the coresponding videos on my blog to see what i mean , as those options make your cam rotate around your avatar without rotating the Avatar itself , you can however , click and hold on your Avatar with your left mouse button to enter "Steering" mode and move sideways with A D or Arrow left/right , you can also hold Shift while pressing A D or Arrow Left/Right to move sideways

Thanks for the explanations Niran. I changed the Graphics settings to *Ultra apart from draw distance which I left at 256m, then ticked all the boxes from Vertex Shaders to Ambient Occlusion and Lighting and Shadows look excellent with a FPS of 16 in my home Linden sim. Drops to about 14 at 512m. The arrow movement is still somewhat baffling although I've looked at the videos. What I can't seem to do is merely swivel around without moving in one direction or the other at the same time. Say for example, I'm chatting to someone but not facing the person and I want to be able to swivel on the spot to go face to face without moving in any direction. Can you please explain how as I just can't figure it out Thanks.

btw, I'd post these questions on your blog but I can't register as the pic for the confirmation code is not there in IE and Opera so I guess I'll have to contact the Board Admin.

the Video has shown how to do so , just set the Max Cam / Pelvis diff in ° [slow rotation] (in Preferences - Advanced) to a low value (the degree divided by 2 at which your Avatar will turn on the spot when moving the cam around via steering and or movement keys) as example set it to 2 like i showed in the Video

Got it. Rotation now working the way I want. Thanks

Installed 1.26...higher fps, now getting 23/24 in my home sim including full Shadows and DoF for some reason when I was only getting 16 before without DoF.

Noticed a couple of bugs that are affecting me.

1. Horizontal thin artifact onscreen low down centre above ankles when Depth of Field is activated. Disappears when DoF disabled.

2. No drop down menu to select Home or My Last Location on login screen with tickbox enabled. The button below the password lock is dead if that is meant to activate it.

@ody , 1. that should have been fixed...but seems like it just caused it
2. press arrow down when you selected the dropdown or click left of it instead right

@Innula , read hover tip for first one , idk for second one , ask davep what exactly it does in the render pipeline , for me its a bit slower so i keep it off

Thanks Niran, I see the dropdown box now.

I do like this viewer. Texture rendering and teleports are working great and fps on your ultra settings with shadows enabled is excellent, up to 35 now on my home sim. I use an ATI HD 5850 with a highly overclocked quad core i5 750 processor.

I hadn't experienced any crashes with the viewer until last night at a busy club when I experienced three instant crashes from viewer to desktop over a period of an hour. Busy places never crash and rarely even lag me but the viewer seems stable again this morning. I'll try it at various busy places over the weekend.

You were getting 23-24 FPS in your home sim and now you're getting 35? Would you please share what you did to get the boost? Your system sounds similar to mine. Thanks.

Well, I think it was due to SL being in a good mood this morning (I'm on GMT). FPS on my home sim is back to 24/25 this evening. However, I was on Svarga just now with all its amazing landscape, textures and shadows and getting around 30, same here at a quiet club I go to, so I'm happy enough with things. I'm using Niran's ultra settings with the asterisk against them, all boxes ticked from Vertex Shaders to Ambient Occlusion, Normal Reflections and All Shadows. I don't use depth of field unless I need it for photos. I have draw distance at 256m, not the usual 512m for normal ultra. I am getting 38/40 at times but for an overall average FPS over a few sims, I'd say 30.

I guess it depends what sims you have to go to as well. I have to go to some laggy ones at times, and that's when I miss the preset slider. Although Niran said the slider broke some things--and I do not doubt his word--the medium setting in 1.22 gave me over 30 in quiet sims and mid teens in laggy ones, and I could switch to low when it felt like I was fighting my way through mud, and I miss that. Funny the difference between GPU brands, though--on the one PC I have access to with an nVidia card, this viewer flies--80 FPS, and it's an older machine. So this is definitely still my go-to viewer on that PC, and I will be keeping an eye on developments. Perhaps I will be able to suss out some settings that will boost FPS sufficiently on my ATI machine (including the laggy sims to whatever degree possible) as well.

Just a quick question, I noticed that after the viewer (1.26) is shut-down, the process remains running in the background, sometimes with more than one instance of itself. In that instance, the RAM usage is ridiculously high, and I have to shut it/them down manually from TaskManager.

I've never seen this behavior with NV before, and it seems to have started with 1.25. Is there a fix for this?

Thanx!

ETA: I'm using the same settings that I've been using with NV, and the install is a clean one.

that closing thing is a problem that happens with the official viewer also.

Tried on the new version of nirans and I have to say I like it a lot, everything ran fine (except DOF but i think that's ATI) thinking about switching from dev viewer to nirans as my main viewer

How do you rotate your avatar now? Sometimes I want to do that, to face others or to match rotation when dancing in a line with people.

@Shirly read previous posts in which are explained how to change the settings , in future i will see if i can set a key that can be hold to set it down to 2 for the time beeing held so you can still rotate without having to change the options all the time
