I have a little problem with updating my viewer. I was using the Build7Beta4 and wanted to update so I downloaded Build8Release1.03 and when it go to open the viewer it started to load but never opens. Is there a fix to the viewer or idk I tried a different release but it seems that the only one that works for me is the Build7Beta4.

Sorry in advance if this question was asked before.

did the unpacker load and never finish?
then idk , never heard of such problem
did your viewer load and never start?
Build 7 and Build 8 are COMPLETLY different Viewers , Build 8 is something that has really nothing to do with Build 7 anymore , try installing it in a different folder , clear cache and settings aswell

Niran,

I'm enjoying the new build. Thank you for your continued work on the project, despite all of the recent complications.

One thing i've noticed is a HUGE performance increase between the last release and the current. Did LL change something? Performance with shadows enabled has dramatically improved.

Faster performance...

"One thing i've noticed is a HUGE performance increase between the last release and the current. Did LL change something? Performance with shadows enabled has dramatically improved."

This.
There's a noticeable increase in framerate. I haven't run my FPS counter yet, but it's definitely noticeable. After that, everything looks very good. Not a complaint.

Just a quick request, Niran. If it's no big secret, could you post your personal settings for both graphics categories (the settings you use for your screenies; it would be nice to have a benchmark to compare my settings to).

Thanks for all the work you're putting into this, despite the trouble you're having. This is still my viewer of choice, and that's not going to change any time soon.

i did a bit magic with shadows to heavily increase FPS
the reason why FPS increased is before i used Tofu´s new Shadows i´ve set Shadow Quality to 1.5 (very high) which CAN and probably will decrease FPS EXTREMLY in some cases (strangely some simple scenes eat way more FPS with that...), with the new Shadow Algorythm i´ve set them back to 1.0 (High) because they still look way better than old Shadows on 1.5 , also the new Shadow Algorythm allows a simple smooth shadow effect on alpha textures (only where they are not transparent) and also a half shadow effect thrown by objects that are over a certain percent transparency

to my Settings which i used in the Bridge example:
SIM is called Goethe (Newbie SIM)
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1...apshot_894.png
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-I...apshot_897.png

here my every day normal advanced settings for comparison:
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-v...apshot_898.png

and my every day Settings on Ahern as example for Performance i have the most time
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1...apshot_899.png

FXAA is used
Resolution is 1920 x 1050 (windowed)
Occlusion is disabled (except the Goethe one)
VBO and VBO mapping are both on
Draw Distance is set to 64m on last one (128 on the example pics)

meh >.< just crashed....i forgot LAA compile... shit... recompiling and uploading 1.11

here are some upcomings:
what looks better?

original style?
or...

right handed style?

Mouselook will also change a bit...
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-8...apshot_903.png
dragging and doing actions in mouselook aswell as full UI (will later be switchable) this allows you to nearly fully experience SL in First Person without having to switch to third person , you can even play with your UI by holding Alt

Niran,

Thanks for addressing the crash! I was on my way here to post you a log. Several hours in the various welcome areas produced many crashes yesterday evening.

As for the left or right handed style, I'm a rightie, so I'm partial to the right right handed style. An idea though. Could you integrate this into one of the menus as an option to choose either right or left? It could be a neat little addition.

Ooh, I like the idea of being able to stay in First person mode while using SL as-normal. Very nice.

it will definetly an option thats what i was showing with the debug i added , im also right handed so this is definetly for me

to Mouselook , like the title name of my Viewer will say in future , the Viewer that dares to be different , i want to make it different wherever it feels good , i want to make people re-experience the Second Life world , something that others doesnt want to try like it seems

im also working very hard on a new Tools floater , long ago i wanted to edit it , but except 1-2 new checkboxes and a few pixels saving i couldnt do anything big , but today i´ve taken a look at it and thought...mh...what if...i put the Object info below the Tabs....and then it made BOOM and i said wow thats it i will completly redo it

because usually Screen Width is way more than Screen Height , a "rotated" tools floater would be better

UPDATE:
the halfway finished one in action!

it also fits for German (except the you cannot edit this text), seriously thats not easy...

Holy crap, Niran... This one I've got to try - from the screenshots it looks like you might have finally created something that will tempt me away from the v3 dev snapshots.

the right handed edit and the new Toolsfloater are not yet in , the toolsfloater is not yet done , but when i will probably release 1.12 , and it will also contain the new "action-wheel" like Pie Menu

Update:
ugh.. i finished the Tools floater for now looks good but will need some time to get used to especially when you´ve build stuff for 5 years... also tweaked the Inventory filter window (smaller now) aswell as the default upload permission floater (smaller aswell)

now THAT is a nice feature - better than either dropdown or original pie, makes it impossible to "fumble" the right click and go "oh crap, I selected what?" Better-looking too

FWIW I tried the current download for a few minutes this morning and I'm VERY impressed. Its got all the stuff I like from v3, plus a lot more AND higher framerates at my preferred settings. Still need to optimize the HELL out of my settings and nvidia profile for it but its looking better and faster than the dev snapshot has for a month on the laptop. I'm looking forward to seeing just how far I can push it when I put it on the monster gaming rig.

This version absolutely flies on my nVidia PC. My ATI card machines get half the generate if the nVidia one, but still more FPS than recent versions, making it possible to use this viewer on them again. I haz a happy.
Niran, would you please remind me of those tweaks you had suggested? I forgot to take notes. :S

Text truncation in reworked edit floater - cant see land impact numbers without bringing up the details floater. Also "Cop" instead of "Copy" in next owner perms (this is truncation, not a typo, reducing UI size exposes the "y" as it shrinks the font), Buttons in upper left overlapping title bar (at all UI sizes)

fixing that is a work of 5 seconds really
if you want to do that manually you can go to your Viewer directory - skins - default - xui - en and open floater_tools.xml with a good text edting program , Notepad+ or like i use Komodo should display it correctly and well organized in lines

scroll down to the 50. and 54. line which contain the strings for those 2 lines , just edit them to something shorter
like i did
[OBJ_COUNT] selected, impact [LAND_IMPACT]
or
[OBJ_COUNT] selected, [LAND_IMPACT] impact. (which sounds better i think)
and
[LAND_CAPACITY] remaining.
which should fit correctly then

This is great.. the edit layout takes a bit of getting used to, but I soon did and I'm really enjoying it.

Thank you so much.

Does it include Oz's patch for Copy and Wear? (I'm asking more from interest than because I ever used that feature).

Here's a feature request that might be interesting..

To be able to save & load complete preference sets to named files. No need to change the normal behavior of using the user_settings.xml for the "current" preference set.. but the ability to snapshot the current settings into a file and go back to that at a later date by simply loading that file would be awesome. I use totally different settings for photography, for flying aircraft, for combat events, for just hanging around with my friends... and they aint necessarily fast to switch between. I'd much rather be able to (for example) load "flight.xml" and have its contents become the current preference settings (with a warning if I'd changed anything that needed a restart to apply) or after I'd spent a few minutes tweaking to make my view as pretty as possible without paying any attention to low fps save that off as "photography.xml" so that I could load it later without spending the time tweaking it again... The code to save and load a preferences file has to be already there, it might be just a matter of bolting in a file select dialog box to specify the file name and calling it...

I downloaded 1.12 because 1.1(1) was all but unusable to me, crashing every 5 to 10 minutes, but sadly I'm having the same issue with 1.12.

I loved this viewer for my photography, I couldn't say enough good things about it and was blown away by the graphics. Second Life has never looking like this to me before, it even feels different.

I'm really saddened that I basically can't use this viewer now. I tried again today, managed to get a few photos after hours of fighting with it and crashing more often than not when I was setting up a shot. I have no idea why, nothing should be different on my computer or my set then how well I was doing with all the previous versions.

If no one else is having this issue it has to be something I am doing, but even just installing without changing anything I barely made it 5 minutes.

Is there a way for me to go back to previous versions?

just unpack older versions over it , but you should also try clearing cache and resetting your settings , as of 1.11/1.10 that was necessenary

@Da5id , yes theres some basic stuff indeed , but this is way more complicated... , i´ve seen that when i took a look into how Exodus made it with their advanced graphics floater , i guess theres a lot of extra work to do , which is probably out of range for me , but i will see what i can do
