I'm talking tiny ones. I'd expect a long one to take a while. I'm not a fool, honest. This was not a problem until this specific build.

There is a problem on newer viewers where "restrict object sounds to parcel" will (occasionally, but not consistently or immediately) stop sounds from being heard even if they ARE on the parcel.

LL must be very good in hiding such bugs , as im handmerging their changes every time.... and i havnt seen anything touching Audio , gestures , sounds , this site of Inventory , or Options in any way :O

anyway , i havnt (except like explained) noticed any gesture sound problems and im usually in a very....gesture sound spammy region where every....fucking...word.... is a gesture...gawd... i hate that

but i will keep an eye out for any fix related to that

For what it's worth it only happens to me on Vir Linden's shining branch it hasn't happened on yours yet.

It's sporadic when it does happen and unchecking restrict sounds fixes it.

I don't know what happened, but after three days of exceptional performance and loving Niran's it's unusuable to me today.

I can't stay logged in for more than 30 second to a minute before it just crashes. No error, no warning, just closes.

I don't think I changed a single thing anywhere so this is mysterious and quite sad because I have no clue how to resolve it.

I'm finding the same thing - but only if I'm on a sim with more than 20 or so avi's around. Otherwise, Niran's works stunningly well for me.

OK I solved my problem and it was the strangest thing.

I had turned off "Show me in search results" in the privacy tab which I wouldn't think should matter but I was McCrashy pants.

I turned it it back on, since it was the only thing I could think of that I'd changed, and I haven't crashed yet.

Coincidence? Mayhaps, but it's working so I'm happy.

Is there any way to make the world... darker? Snowy sims are way too bright for me.

I've found that with deferred rendering and shadows on you start to really realize how badly fullbright textures and the light property of prims has been abused over the years.

I was standing in a club the other day and every avatar in the place looked like a ghost. I turned on "Show light radius of selection" and found the culprit to be a potted plant with a 20m light radius.

What's even more fun is when you're shooting someone in a low light setting and they've got full-bright alpha texture hair on. You've got all this gorgeous ambient light then there's this big glow-in-the-dark wig sticking out in the middle of the frame.

For years I haven't been able to spend much time in large crowds without relogging every few minutes. I haven't been able to take screen shots with AA enabled. And, shadows could glitch once in a while. (>_<)

For the past week... NOTHING has gone wrong. (O.o)

I mean nothing! Like, never having to relog in a crowd. I can take screenshot after screenshot, trouble free. Look at my latest run from the Bay City Ice Skating event! http://my.secondlife.com/imnotgoing.sideways NOT ONE CRASH!!! (O_O)

That's me in a large crowd, in ultra graphics, full draw distance, mainland, shadows, AA... The whole frigg'n gambit... And I was STILL able to take a run of screenshots without a single relog. And, I was still able to TP around to another half dozen places, buy and fit a new outfit from Graves, and just WTF!?!?! (o.O)

One funny observation: It took the whole week for my Niran's client icon to climb to the top of my start menu most-used-links bar. It usually takes a day or two. Why the change? Well... Given I don't have to relog so much, I don't have to launch the app as much... So it hurts the rank and keeps the link down. I KID YOU NOT!!! XD

Niran, what ever you did, you did it right. My computer likes your stuff. Keep up the good work. (^_^)y

Only if you want to stay in cloud-mode indefinitely.

well today , ive visited Phoenix´s Blog , and theres one big thing i have to give a big yes , if SL will go down like you say Ann , then it will probably because LL is in a situation which seems to lead to a dead end , they can disable V1 and probably get fucked up , or they can leave it and try to support all viewers and get fucked up sooner or later , because they cannot go much further with so much people wanting to stay in a "stone age" time...

EDIT: oh also btw , i´ve already said that on my blog that Ahern is probably the worst place to go until further notices from me , it will instant crash you after a few seconds (might go for a lot of other SIMs aswell but i think its there because of something else ....Memory again i guess), thats the same im encountering aswell , im working on it...

It looks great, but unfortunately my graphics card can't take advantage of the goodness. I'm usually below 20 FPS in medium graphics, and into the single digits on high. Low graphics loses me things like candle flames and steam (on any viewer).
Maybe some day I'll make enough extra money to get a dedicated gaming PC.

ETA: It runs much better on the one PC that has a nVidia card (GeForce 8800 GT). I can run at high graphics on that PC at the FPS I get on my ATI cards (even though those are much newer) on low. If I don't have an AO on, that is; if I do, FPS drops by as much as half in some sims.
Hm, any chance of a client-side AO, Niran?
Problem is, that PC is the least conveniently located in the house.
Damn, I'd love to be able to get 30 FPS (almost 50 in low-traffic areas!) on high graphics on this viewer on my main PCs.

OK, you're the boss. Do please let me know if you have /any/ ideas on how I can get my newer PCs to run your viewer as nicely as my old one does, though. I know the drivers are different, but I can't help thinking there must be something...

Client: I try all of them, but for everyday use it's Cool VL Viewer.
Sorry Niran...I have 4 bugs...well, at least they bug me,hehehe...to report :

1. The Move and Camera floaters location don't persist between sessions.

2. IM's don't seem to be able to be tabbed into the Nearby Chat.

3. The Volume and Play/Pause button I would prefer to be clicked before dropping down a slider or control panel.

4. On the login screen, the Me and Help buttons are hard to get to 'light up' to allow using them.

This is a beautiful viewer though... apart from the little things. Thank You !

Edit: For some reason, this last time I relogged, the Move/View floaters persisted.

1. probably caused because of crash on logout
2. they cant be tabbed into nearby chat , again a feature i´ve declined
3. would be possible , but needs some recoding , as it is set to mouse hover
4. known problem , i guess cause of the Background Texture , will fix that sometime , until then just click on the upper half part of the text instead of the middle or lower part

Looks good from here...

Been putting this release through the wringer since last night, and haven't (yet) encountered any serious or persistent problems.

Niran, I don't know why with every release you insist that:
"most noticable is that your FPS will again decrease (probably)...etc..."(taken from your blog).
I can't speak for everyone, but I've not yet suffered a FPS-loss, but rather gained a few over the last couple of iterations. This one has been no exception; after repeating the settings from PreRelease2, I still have a persistently smooth framerate, around 22-25 in a sparsely-populated sim and 14-18 in a SafeHub with around 12 avies.

This is on CUSTOM/HIGH settings; all-shadows, all-reflections, DoF, SSAO (new), 2xAA, AnisFiltering, and no imposters.

The only real 'uh-oh' moment I had was when I first ran this release. For whatever reason, after login, the environment all around me was pitch-black except for my avie and the area immediately around me. Switching from HIGH to MEDIUM and back again seemed to fix everything, until I restarted the viewer; for whatever reason, I had to repeat the process again. After another restart, the issue seemed to have corrected itself and not reappeared.

Other than that, I couldn't ask for more in a viewer. Once again, thank you for all the hard work you've put into this.

new progress screen , WIP

my typical "FPS loss" comments are just warnings that you dont need to be surprised about that , as my FPS notable goes does with each release , probably because i havnt redone my settings for a long time, guess its time to do so
