You're missing a full category- I suggest you drop them into the Mobile client post, and that's the active libOMV-based non-rendering viewers, like Radegast and METAbolt (long-term TPV members). Maybe title them "alternate UI"- they're not for mobile clients but are for lightweight machines like netbooks, or "bot" like clients and they focus on #a11y features like screenreader and text-to-speech integration.

I notice you link to actual files to download. If you do that you will have constant work updating your posts with newer versions. Maybe it would be better to link to the viewer's website or its general Downloads page.
Oh, I know, but I don't mind for now. Keeps me updated about..updates ;P

Tho I wish more download pages and filehosers'd allow for dynamic links to files. Viewer creators could just link to http:/what/ever/viewrename-latest.end without needing to change the download link.

Frozenglobe was re-branded to Dolphin Viewer to comply with requirements for TPVD inclusion.
I'll update the download an source links once Lance has finished internal rebranding work.

Thanks for the heads-up, Lance! :3

I've updated the description for the Snowstorm viewer. Mainly because there is no literal 'Snowstorm viewer', merely Project Snowstorm and its team members who work on the main LL viewer now. I've clarified the relationship in the new text, and how it fits into the whole. I've also labeled all the other LL viewers as discontinued, tho I'm keeping them on the list til they stop working for some reason.

actually, yes!
one of the main features that I've actually made myself is a minimap change that makes physical objects appear in red or green.

or in other words, the mermaids won't get plowed under by speedboats ^^

Thanks so much for this thread Chalice. I have bookmarked it and will refer to it often. A small note, Marine's current Restrained Love Viewer is a v2.1 viewer so probably should be listed in the V2.0 Third Party section. Her Mac version is still 1.23 however and she has the 1.23 Windows version also still available.

Is there a plan to get a set of binaries going? :> I'll add it to the list tomorro (It's 3 AM here) unless you don't think it's quite ready for that yet.

Gimme a week or so, Visual Studio is being a dick (Probably shouldn't be using Visual Studio 2005 like the wiki says).

EDIT: It's compiling on Linux, at least.

i'd like one more "option" in the list if possible : the viewers that are able to run on LLKDU cause openjpeg is definately far too slow compare to LL one.

That's "Everything except Phoenix" as far as I know.

Some of them download it for you, Imprudence I think you still have to copy it over from a 1.23.5 installation.

I've finally filled in the Lightweight/Mobile Device client section, and have updated Restrained Love to have a 1.* and 2.* Version entry in the according categories.

I don't know how active it is, but there's also TopHat Viewer. He did one release with nothing new, then announced he was moving to 2.X, but I figure it's worth mentioning - I mean, it /is/ a viewer, and it's not malicious, and... I don't know if there are any other requirements to be added to the list.

Yeah, I know about TopHat. I'm a proud owner of one of Dantia's sculpt Tophats actually
Ironically I forgot to add it here! It's been a while since I checked its site and development.

Heeh :3 I'm kind of happy (in a late fashion) to see that Emerald had such low-medium crash rates. I missed that one office hour the snapshot was taken in..it was a good load of weeks ago, before ze big drama.

Interesting to note is that this snapshot was before Snowstorm, and viewer 2 already was close to the most solid viewer base. In view of that, and their Snowstorm efforts, it should be even more solid now.

EDIT: Just added the Luna Linux binary link from Fred's thread.

I've changed the Windows download for Phoenix viewer to the non-SSE2 version upon request. The Phoenix support team has found that version to be more stable than the SSE2 version for some reason.

That list is "every viewer but Phoenix", but only for now. Oz will be announcing shortly that TPVs licensed under the GPL will be prohibited from using KDU or any other closed-source library. LL will also stop shipping KDU in its own DLL.

Note that this is purely based on LL's interpretation of the GPL. It explicitly does not apply to LGPLd viewers.
