| Hulu could be profitable on a free basis. I notice that watching ABC shows on Hulu, I get a little marker in the corner of the screen saying ABC15, my local affiliate. I also see advertising for Qwest which is a regional phone company.
It seems to me that if they can do that, they could sell local advertising on Hulu, which is a huge untapped market on the web.
As for price schemes for a pay version of Hulu, there is already stiff competition. Netflix has streaming commercial free TV -- along with a big catalog of streaming commercial free movies -- for only $9.95 a month. |
