It's a hard call on this. That woman should rot with the most serious punishments imaginable for a waste of life like her, but the way they were going about pinning charges on her held serious repercussions as legal precedents.

It really sucks when someone does something so wrong and needs to be punished for it, but there's no way to nail them without presenting an opportunity for the precedent to be abused further down the road.
