I also talked to one of the students of the DJ school. Unfortunately for him, he hasn't gotten much of a chance to try DJing live due to some technical difficulties on his end. However, he did confirm my suspicion that she's teaching things that one can learn on one's own, for free. For instance, she "gives" her students a demo copy of SAM.

I gave him a copy of a notecard a friend made up for me when I was starting out and went on my merry way. There was no reason for him to spend $500L on "lessons".
