I wouldn't have gone so far as to call this practice obnoxious, though I had not so much seen the point of it - until a few weeks ago, when a friend of mine added a picks tab to her profile that said some nice things about me. It made me feel all

, and I'm still incredibly touched and happy and warm and fuzzy about it every time I think of it.
So, you know, if people want to use their profile picks to make their friends feel good, I think it's a pretty damn nice thing to do.
In other news, I gotta say, threads like this always make me a wee bit nervous about my profile.
I'm an inveterate profile-reader, and so I assume others are reading mine, and I put some work into it. Madhu's is pretty utilitarian but I've tried to give Carter's some personality ... I just hope it never ends up highlighted in a thread like this one!
