I spent some time checking out the new demo world that realXtend has up to show off version 0.4, and it is incredibly impressive. I have not been keeping up with their development of late, so I hadn't realized how far they had come in a very short time. The most incredible thing about the demo is not the real time lighting, shadows, and mesh support (all very cool things, don't get me wrong).
What most impressed me is that finally, after all this time, you can develop areas under water where the water does not enter inside of the building. The demo world has an underwater dome that you can walk around in and view the water and sea life from behind glass. It also then lets you swim in the water around the dome and surface to the top. I took some pictures - I adjusted the windlight settings to get different effects (and was startled to notice the shadows moved in real time as I adjusted the time of day slider). Now I just need to figure out how to make my avatar not look like Mr. Clean.
