The other thing is that, unless your offline IMs go to email, if your IMs get capped, that's it. You won't get any that are sent after they capped. Inventory offers, however, don't get capped.

Now, my offline IMs do go to email, and I vastly prefer getting them over notecards. Fishing the damn thing out of my inventory and then starting a new IM session vs. replying to an existing session? IMs win every time. I've even got a note in my profile saying I prefer IMs, not that anybody seems to read it.
