Some old "jokes" about this topic from Nam era:
1) Gun control means hitting your target
2) Q: in a shocked tone-- "how can you shoot women and children!"
A: ""easy, you just don't lead them as much"
[NB: A lot of the anecdotes from the movie "Full Metal Jacket" as well as helmet grafitti used, came from Michael Herr's book "Despatches". The women and children "joke" was a real one passed around during the era and turned into a scene (embarassing to Kubrick I feel) in the movie. It was never from a real incident but rather came out of frustration of returning soldiers being accused of being "baby killers" and it became a standard F**ck You-like "shock" response to that line of questioning]
