No, I wouldn't say doomed to failure. I'd say, more likely to have a bad relationship with their parent and more likely to have trouble in marriage and raising their own children, but certainly not doomed to fail or even to make the same mistakes. Just, a percentage more likely.

Actually, it's a lot worse in a lot of ways (military parent, in an active war, worse than a VP as a parent I mean).
